I'd be shocked if the Jets were 2-1 going into the Titans game.
The Titans being 2-1 would not be a surprise, them beating Houston though would be a little.
The only NFL team which Clemson could beat are the Jaguars. There might be a couple others which could be taken down on a bad day, such as the Raiders or Jets - but I wouldn't bet on Clemson going into it.
My fantasy team is in trouble. Two fumbles later, and David Wilson is apparently dead to Tom Coughlin. Eli's two INTs are no big deal, though.
He'll still get the workload bc the Giants have invested in him as the feature back and he is certainly capable. But he better not fumble again until maybe the 10th game. Coughlin won't stand for it.

Really, you can't see the Jets beating the Billdos? That's too hard for you to envision? The Billdos stink, the Jets could easily smash EJ Manuel and win that game.
The Jaguars would beat Clemson by 25, minimum. Just stop.

there is a double standard with that. rb's fumble too much, they're out of there. qb's are constantly throwing int's and they're still the man.
Does this really need to be explained? One instance is simply a person not letting people take the ball away from him, the other is any multitude of reasons (exotic defense, hit as he throws, WR runs the wrong route, great defensive play, etc.).

I think there are plenty of instances where fumbles are not really the ball carrier's fault, but I would agree that there are more reasons why interceptions are not the quarterback's fault. Take this interception from last night, for example.
The throw may be behind the receiver (or the receiver didn't turn fast enough depending on who you ask) but it's just sh*t luck that the ball gets tipped right to a Cowboy.
Plus, a teams QB is their leader, not the RB, in most cases. You can't just keep switching out he person who drives your offense. The running back position has become interchangeable. Although, if AP fumbled 3 or 4 times in a game, they wouldn't stop giving him the ball.
Idk, this one hurts, especially because I feel like the Giants are a superior team. I was shocked by how well our defense played, despite having the cowboys start their possessions in the Red Zone several times. We shut down Dez and forced a lot of FGs that should have been TDs.
Eli and the passing game showed us nothing new - everyone knows they can score. I guess there is a positive in the fact that the Giants were able to fight back in this one (clearly made some good adjustments at half) and lose by only 5 despite having 5 turnovers.
Still, it's going to get even uglier next week when the Broncos come to town. Damn you, David Wilson.
6 turnovers. I watched the last quarter and a half due to fantasy football. When that pick 6 happened at the end, I told abra that Coughlin was going to straight murder a random player after the game as an example to the others.
True that. I have blocked many a play from my football memory forever. I have basically repressed the entire Vandy game from last year aside from knowing we lost big.

I will be reserving my judgement on the exciting week 1 action until my beloved birds play tonight. The outcome of the game will have a direct correlation with my tone/attitude.
Congrats Seahwaks, Saints, Jets, (and probably texans) fans. Any other winners this week that I'm not thinking of?
Denver, New Orleans, Atlanta, Green Bay, San Francisco, New England, Dallas, NYG, Washington, Indianapolis, Houston, Seattle.
That is 12 teams. If you want, maybe you can argue Chicago, Arizona, or Cincinatti might be in the top 12 as well. Either way, the NFC East has arguably 3 of the best 12 offenses in the league. Stop being a troll.
Pats, Houston, Indy, Broncos, Seahawks, Niners, Falcons, Saints, Carolina, Packers, Bears, NFC East offense #1 (I think Cowboys).
The NFC East has 1 team in the top 12 offenses, IMO.
It is certainly not trolling to take the Giants and Cowboys putting up 30+ on each other's crappy defenses with a grain of salt.

Indianapolis inarguably has a top-12 offense? In what world?
Seattle was 4th in offensive DVOA last year. Not that anyone expects they'll run roughshod through the league like they did the last half of last year, but still.
Including the Panthers and Bears in that list is ridiculous. Especially the Panthers.
Based on what?
You are aware that the Panthers gained more yards per game last year than the Giants, right? Of course you are, you wouldn't speak so matter-of-factly about something without looking into it first.
YPG is not a determinant stat of how good an offense is. Just like y'all were arguing that the Buccaneers don't have the best run defense in the NFL despite giving up the fewest YPG on the ground last year. Don't be hypocrites. How good an offense is goes far beyond YPG (especially from last year).
1- You're from the Northeast, stop saying "y'all."
2- I never said that Tampa didn't have the top run defense last year (they had a yards/carry well under 4, they were legit).
3- Seeing as how I'm not being hypocritical, can you please acknowledge that your premise that Carolina "can't" be included would then imply the Giants "can't" be included, either? Points/game is a worse indicator than yards/game (same as defense) since there are units on your team that can score besides your offense.
Come on Dave, using last years stats to prove your point about how good teams are this year is the lowest level of reasoning. Do you base all your fantasy football draft picks on last years stats? I don't think so...
I guess using 4 quarters of football is better, that way you can pretend Carolina will only gain 240 yards/game and score 7 points every week.
All defenses being equal, if you would prefer Cam Newton, Steve Smith, Greg Olsen, Brandon Lafell, Ted Ginn, DeAngelo Williams over Eli Manning, Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks, Ruben Randle, Brandon Myers, David Wilson...welp...then you're outta you're quacking mind.

You don't base all your picks on them but AP running for a billion yards last year probably had something to do with him being drafted high. As Larry Farnsworth stated in his post, that is where the NFC East teams ranked last year, and they didn't do much to better their offense in the offseason.

I would take Newton over Manning, Smith and Cruz are a wash, same with Olsen and Myers, Williams over Wilson, but I'll give the other two WR to NY (if Nicks stays healthy).
You touch on a good point with Nicks. He may be better talent wise, but you have to factor in injury history. Then again, Dr. Joe will probably argue that past injuries have no bearing on this season.
Also, if this whole thread is going to be NFC East and Jets talk, can we start a new thread?
Hey now, I haven't brought my boys up really at all today (LD tried to hate on them, but that's it).
I'd rather talk about the Niners/Packers than which donkey NFC East team will go 9-7 and get a division title.
*PREFACE* I'm not saying the Packers would have won the game had these things not happened, but:
There should have been a Delay of Game called on the Packers the play where Lacy fumbled. At least the play clock on the screen read 0 when it was snapped. The whole botching of the rules on the offsetting penalties after the Matthews/Kaepernick late hit. Should've been 4th down and likely would've resulted in the 49ers trying for a field goal instead of the resulting touchdown. OF COURSE the Packers ONE drop all game leads to an INT.
This is the EXACT type of shit that happens when a team like the Packers play a team like the 49ers. San Fran is apparently incapable of making just one tiny mistake all game. I'm actually really pretty happy with how the Packers played even though Kaepernick sort of eviscerated them.
Also, Harbaugh can f*ck himself in the face repeatedly. Seriously, f*ck that guy. He makes me want to root for Pete Carroll whenever they play the Seahawks.
there's a clear lead group and then the 2nd group.
I'm not sure what universe you live in where the Seahawks are in the same tier as the Lions. Yes I think the Lions under-performed last year, but being alongside what was one of if not the best defenses in Seattle is absurd.

I can't believe how low the amount of discussion the botched offsetting penalties call is getting. That changed the entire landscape of that game and it never should have been the case.
I'm not going to be surprised when those two teams have a replay in the playoffs of that game, either.

I put the Seahawks in the 2nd group because of their wrs. and yes Broncos have 2 of the top tier offenses. I thought I had 8 teams, didn't even notice that I had them twice, so if I were to slide a team up it would be the Seahawks.
Lets talk about James Jones having zero receptions yesterday. Whats the deal?
Healthy Jordy Nelson > James Jones, and with how much the Packers' staff talked up Finley all training camp long it seems pretty possible Jones is the fourth option this season.
