Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Each club session covers a ten week period. Before the session begins, people volunteer to choose the record for that round. Each round lasts one week. You don't have to reveal your record until your week/round comes up. Once your week comes up, you post what record you are choosing, along with your own review of that record. Weeks will begin and end on Sunday. Your record should be easily and legally available online, via Spotify or other free streaming service.
The role of the remaining 9 participants is to listen to your record, and post their own review before the round is over. The reviews don't have to be lengthy, as short as a paragraph is fine, but some insight should be provided beyond just "it was good, I liked it" or "it was bad, I hated it". Also, when you post your review, be sure to indicate what record you are reviewing, to keep everything clear.
The role of the session moderator (me) is to update the first post with links to the post indicating the record for each round, as well as keeping track of who has and hasn't posted a review for that record. If a participant fails to post reviews for two weeks in a row, you lose your opportunity to choose a record. If you have already chosen a record but then fail to review other records, well then I'm sure the guilt you feel will be far greater than any punishment that I can mete! Having said all that, I will do my best to remind participants via PM that a review is due, or their time to choose a record is approaching, but a certain amount of self-discipline will be required to keep all this running smoothly.
Obviously if there is no interest we won't do this, but I think it could be a fun way to discover new music. Moving forward we could even choose genre themes or other themes for different sessions. Credit where credit is due, I stole this idea from a Phish message board I am on where they have been doing this with Phish shows for a while, but I think due to all the streaming services available this can now be done with actual albums.
To signup, just reply to this message with what week you want to choose a record. You don't have to reveal your record until your week, in fact if would probably be better if you didn't, to avoid confusion in the thread.
If there is enough interest, the first session will begin this Sunday, April 21st. I'm skipping June 9th and 16th because of Bonnaroo.
Session 1
Round 1 - beginning week of April 21st - Round 2 - beginning week of April 28th - Round 3 - beginning week of May 5th - Round 4 - beginning week of May 12th - Round 5 - beginning week of May 19th - Round 6 - beginning week of May 26th - Round 7 - beginning week of June 2nd - <two week break for Bonnaroo> Round 8 - beginning week of June 23rd - Round 9 - beginning week of June 30th - Round 10 - beginning week of July 7th - postjack
this might have been poorly timed, could be a better idea in the off season. If I continue to get no interest over the weekend I'll give this another shot in July.
