That description sounds fantastic. I was already a believer, but now I'm all in.
May I interest you in a sublime little album known as Audio, Video, Disco? Even the revisionist pricks over at Pitchfork want to like it in hindsight now that their precious Daft Punk up and copied Justice's groundbreaking masterpiece.
You people.
I have always been a big fan of that album as well, listen to it all the time. I would probably say A,V,D starts off more disco meets garage (Horsepower) but New Lands has always sounded to me like a Yes outtake so your point is taken. Not the one about "you people" - the one about the similarity between the two.
People should always base their own music taste on their own ears & never on the statements of websites, radio playlists, magazines, etc. Pitchfork (etc) unintentionally proves this regularly.
Well, yea. Of course.
Two of my top 50 albums from last year were two of Pitchfork's lowest rated albums of the year. So yeah, they get it right sometimes, but for me, they miss a lot too.
The second half of the album seems to be heating up.
Yeah - and I love the fact that Touch and Beyond are sung by and co-written by Paul Williams, the same 70+ year-old guy who played Little Enos in Smokey and the Bandit and also wrote Rainy Days and Mondays for the Carpenters.
Phi, it doesn't have to be today, but at some point in the near future could you set up a thread where we can discuss your newly discovered perspective on music? Like 4 months ago you were all oontz oontz wobble wobble fist pump zomg sick drop brah lazerz wobble wobble, then suddenly you come back from Coachella raving about Cloud Nothings and all pumped to see Mac DeMarco at Bonnaroo and hating on the TomorrowWorld lineup. Did you get hit in the head? Abducted by aliens?
There is still plenty of oontz oontz wobble wobble that I like (Deadmau5, Skrillex, Knife Party, Flux Pavillion, Afrojack, Hardwell etc).
A lot of the comments I make on here are joking (trolling) that you have probably taken serious.
I dont remember raving about Cloud Nothings on here? But I was on the rail and it was def a good show. And I was pumped to see Mac DeMarco getting another set since his other one was during a clusterquack of a conflict.
And yes, there is nothing so far on the TommorrowWorld lineup that draws me. Other than Hardwell and Afrojack.

Thank youuuuuuuuu for posting the streaming info guys!! I'm so excited and I'm only in 2 songs deep. My crappy morning was made the best day of the week! Yipeeee
that's ridiculously funny. I'm about 43:00 into the stream. not really which song is which but am thoroughly enjoying it so far. I'll definitely buy it.
I feel like you could take away like three of these songs and have a perfect album. Like its really good but it feels like there's a handful of filler songs. I chance my mind about this type of thing constantly so I'm probably full of shit.

It's going to be great on vinyl, side A is a long build up and side B owns.
So I have the album streaming in the background as I sit and eat dinner. My wife and I were talking about something and my 2 year old son hears "Get Lucky" come on, and sang the entire song. Made my night.

This is where I'm at with it. I like it but I don't love it. Maybe more listens will change my mind.

I don't know, man. Side A has Giorgio and Instant Crush. The latter is one of best things I've heard this year.
