Ok, I brought this up in the Random Thoughts thread a few weeks ago, but I'm just getting around to actually making this thread. This is not a post seeking legal advice. I am a 2L, and I know there are apparently more lawyers, law students, and other legal professionals on Inforoo than I realized. So here's the question:
I will be taking the Bar Exam next summer. This year (2013) will only be my second year at Bonnaroo (2012, 2013), but I already know how much I love it and I will probably want to go next year regardless. However, should I just plan on skipping Roo next year in order to study for the Bar? I'm sure that if I take a Barbri/Kaplan course, those classes will have already started. I also may have to miss Roo for a wedding, so I know that next year may already be a stretch. What about going to a different festival (Wakarusa would be closest, I'd like to make it to Wannee eventually, but other suggestions are welcome). I'd just like the advice of those who may have already been in this situation, and the recommendations of those who know what it takes to pass the Bar.
TIA for the advice, and since I'm not sure who all the lawyers and law students are, feel free to tag those that you know of. Also, since we don't have one, I'm ok with making this the official law student/legal community thread after this question as been discussed. Good karma to anyone with thoughts on the subject.

I went to Roo the year I took my first Bar, and I don't remember ever considering not going that year, but I think it depends on what kind of studyer (that's probably not a real word, is it?) you are. I took a BarBri class for that one, but I skipped a lot of the lectures anyway. I did most of my studying on my own using the BarBri books. But i learn best by writing things down, so for both Bars that I've taken, I hand copied all of the outlines from the BarBri books and took all of the practice tests and wrote out notes again when I checked my answers.

If you want to take a weekend off to do Roo you'll be fine. Just plan on getting very serious about it after the 4th of July.
If I were you I'd be more concerned about spending the money. Every penny you spend on a student loan is going to come back to bite you, and the jobs that allow you to pay off loans in just a few years don't exist any more. Even IP law has taken something of a hit (I have a hard science degree). I have a good but very low paying job. I'm 5 years out of school and I still have to track every penny I spend. Just be prepared for that real possibility when you graduate.
