New album. Out May 7th. I'm digging the first two songs they released. Bit of a different sound. Could be a solid album.
Most bands tend to announce their new record all in one package, with a date, a title, a tracklist, a cover, and usually even a single to go along with it. Vampire Weekend are not most bands – first they confirmed the record was done, then they confirmed it’d be released May 7, then they started spamming the acronym MVOTC over every social media outlet, leading many fans to discern the album title must have something to do with Martha’s Vineyard (though the best hypothesis I saw was My Veautiful Oark Twisted Cantasy). Turns out the record’s called Modern Vampires of the City – the band confirmed it today in the New York Times classifieds. It’s got gorgeous cover art and some text that’s not Futura, and a 12-song tracklist that includes a song named after the singer of Dominant Legs, Hannah Hunt. We’re not sure who Diane Young is yet though. Stay tuned!

These guys are playing a show this weekend that is going to be streamed. Wish I Could have afforded to go to the show but I may be watching the stream if I'm free. Steve Buscemi is directing it (similar to how Gary Oldman directed the Jack White Unstaged stream).
Vampire Weekend will kick off the fourth year of the popular live stream music series, American Express Unstaged, with an exclusive live performance from the Tribeca Film Festival on Sunday, 28 April, 2013. The Vampire Weekend performance will be brought to life for home audiences by award-winning actor, director and producer Steve Buscemi. American Express Unstaged is a cutting edge music series that brings together popular musical artists and renowned directors to unite a live event with and interactive digital platform.
“I am really excited to collaborate with Vampire Weekend to bring their vision to life for this live streaming event,” Buscemi said. The dynamic pairing of Vampire Weekend and Buscemi is the 12th digital streaming event in the award-winning American Express Unstaged series. Created by American Express, in partnership with VEVO and YouTube, as a means of delivering premium music experiences to fans everywhere, the American Express Unstaged experience will continue to provide revolutionary access to Vampire Weekend through several pre-show and in-concert digital features and content including:
Exclusive Digital Content - In addition to the exclusive American Express Unstaged anthem trailer at www.youtube.com/americanexpressmusic, fans will enjoy a series of surprise videos leading up to the 28 April show.
Choose Your Cam - During the live performance, fans can switch between Buscemi’s main stream and alternate artist-themed vantage points to create and control the viewing experience.
Rebroadcast - Unlike other live performances, the Vampire Weekend American Express Unstaged experience will not end when the band leaves the stage. A special looped rebroadcast will follow the live performance and clips from the concert will be posted on YouTube, Twitter and Xbox Live (via the VEVO application).
Although the exact playlist for the exclusive performance at the Roseland Ballroom on the final night of the Tribeca Film Festival has not been revealed, it’s likely to include at least a couple of songs from Modern Vampires Of The City, the new album from Vampire Weekend set for release on 14 May 2013. The live concert in New York City and streaming event at www.amexunstaged.com will begin at 9 PM ET (6 PM PT) 28 April.
“We are thrilled to be working with Steve Buscemi, a wonderful actor, a NYC legend and a great director,” said Vampire Weekend lead signer Ezra Koenig. “We couldn’t have picked a better guy to man the cameras for our April 28th event.”
I was really upset to not see these guys on the line-up for 'Roo, given that they are doing a huge festival tour this summer. I'm digging the stuff they have released thus far though.

Still haven't listened to the full thing....the 3 or so songs I know well are awesome and I liked their Coachella/Unstaged sets. Pre-ordered the vinyl but will be looking for the album on the computer soon.
Well, I really like them, I've just been working so much that I don't have time to digest new albums. The stack of new stuff I want to listen to grows almost daily and this is at the top of that pile. Maybe later today if I don't fall asleep the second I get home from work.
So I guess I'm the only person on the board that hates (I mean absolutely hate) Vampire Weekend.
I don't care for them either. I can appreciate their talent and their music is way better than Mumford or any of the other faux-folk bandwagoneers though. But yeah, Vampire Weekend makes my weenie soft.
I haven't been a fan of them up until this point, but I enjoyed the songs on SNL. I will listen to the new record. I love the title and the cover for sure.

Dear Diary,
Today I found out schlonginus judges how good a concert is by where his member would land on the Mohs Scale while he's viewing said concert.
