Please clarify. I have fallen in love with something, but it's not "out" yet until June 4th. Doesn't count this month, right?
That is correct. The official release date has to be in May for it to count for this months vote. Now you know how I felt last month, when Deerhunter's Monomania leaked over a month in advance.
My vote, too. I listen to this album like I brush my teeth: twice a day, in a state of arousal.
I really wish I liked that Vampire Weekend album.
I might as well go ahead and vote for this too. Yesterday, I listened to everything that comes out next week that could possibly be a contender, but I still think Monomania is the album of the month/year. The new Kylesa and Skinny Puppy ain't nothin' to fuk with though...both really good albums. also: The National > Vampire Weekend > Daft Punk still holds true after listening to them all at least 5 times. y'all cray
I had the intention of voting for Deerhunter, but after giving Vampire Weekend another listen I'm gonna have to say that's my pick.
Also I can't believe The Knife didn't win last month.
I tried. I was surprised that I was alone on that. I loved the Kurt Vile and it will probably end up on year end lists - but that Knife album has a lot going on.

Knife is probably my favorite album of the year so far
Biting humor aside, I'm curious to hear why you thought so little of RAM.
I can't speak for him. But the reason I don't like it is I just find it... lacklust. It's a very, very solid album. But it's so forgettable imo. I thought that it would grow on me, but after about 5 listens it just gets more and more tedious to sit through. Maybe it was the fact that I had so much hype built up for it in my mind. Or maybe it's because I wasn't expecting a 100% disco record. It has some amazing moments, but as a whole I think Vampire Weekend, National, and Deerhunter all have put out better albums as a whole.
I hate to sound like that guy but it really just isn't the DP record I wanted to hear. It's smooth, and groovy, and really good. But I just can't fully get into it. I do have high hopes for the remix album they have announced though.

I get it if RAM isn't your favorite album of the month, but I got the clear impression LD thought it sucked, and I'm curious to hear why he thinks that.
