I am also confused as to why these people don't study up on, at least, the basics of menswear. The menswear challenge is still a staple of the show, right? I guess I shouldn't be that surprised though. Survivor is in its 10000th season (still awesome), and they still have tons of people who show up with zero ability to make a fire.
Reminds me of the Amazing Race where every season some team shows up without knowing how to drive a stick shift.
I do not know how to drive one, but if I got on the Amazing Race, I would be studying that sh*t hardcore until I had it down. Wasn't it last season where someone was stalling out bad and said that the one lesson they had done had "gone well" so they hadn't gone back?

I take a better safe than sorry approach with spoiler tags. With the button add, it's easy to do. Specifically on this show, NothingButFlowers has said that she usually doesn't watch it until Saturday. Also, EAP is out of town, so she said she won't watch it until later on. I don't know if either use "recent posts" to view the forum, but that has ruined many a show for people.

I still can't figure out why you guys like watching this show. What is it's appeal?
This is actually the first season I have watched in a while since I didn't have cable for the longest time. Here goes some reasons though.
1) I am a sucker for competitive reality shows. 2) Tim Gunn is the man. 3) I like design-minded creativity. Watching people's different interpretations of the same challenge represented in visual form is fascinating to me. 4) It does a great job of being different without being hokey. You would think that giving them a challenge where everything had to be from a plant or hardware store would end up with something looking terribad, but instead, you get something that is actually pretty great. 5) It's casted with artsy people who have a higher rate of being bat-sh*t crazy, so it makes for wonderful interviews.

Also I just realized that's the first time they've not had a winner in a challenge. INTERESTING. I'm glad they went that route, because there were absolutely no winning looks in the bunch.
I wonder if the designer guy judge (forget his name) would've been able to design something that would fit those wonky buff bodies within those time constraints?

Having no winner was great. Michelle's look was easily the best, but it still was not anything to get excited about at all and had some pretty big issues.
Do you mean Zach Posen? I think that the reason they were so disappointed was that they had some pretty serious construction issues like the one where the pant legs were different lengths. Even if you don't know sh*t about making men's fashion (which is a whole other issue which should have royal pissed off the judges), you should be able to make pants that have equal legs.

Really sad to see Samantha go! She was one I had pegged for a finalist at the beginning. Her dress was pretty bad (I am SHOCKED Tim approved the heart cutout, also!) but I think a lot of her auf had to do with the lack of drama on her end. I wanted Richard to go, but obviously he makes for "better" TV.
And holy shiz Daniel is cray. His anger combined with tears combined with THESE ARE TEARS OF HAPPINESS scared the shiz out of me, for real. His jacket and subsequent dress were barftastic. I think it's funny he thought his dress was the shiz because they were in the top, but clearly it was because Michelle's dress was the winner! His was a hot mess, it's like his meltdown was translated into pepto bismol pink fabric.
Michelle's dress was great. Thank god she listened to Tim because that totally made the win for her.

As far as the decision went, Richard does have the drama advantage even though it didn't appear from the previews that he is teamed with Layana the next episode. Richard's dress was meh and repetitive but well-made. Samantha's was hot mess territory though. Someone in the episode that a heart cutout could go good or bad. I think it went so bad. It just looked cheap and almost accidental (it didn't even point at the bottom). It would have looked a lot better if it had been finished in some manner. Even with that out of the way, the bottom of the dress was horrible. As Heidi pointed out, she interpreted the idea of the rose in the saddest, wiltiest way possible. In addition, the hem was was too short and the sides were constructed horribly though you couldn't see the sides much on the runway. If they picked on the season's worth of stuff or for the future, I think Samantha is better, but if they were picking off just this episode, I think Richard was the better of the two.
I have been a big fan of Daniel this season, but he seems like the one this season that is going to be in neutral all season. His stuff at the beginning was great, but it just seems like he is stuck in a rut and is unwilling or unable to get out of it which is disappointing. I will have to agree that he came off as batsh*t in that episode. Did you notice how his hair was f*cked in that interview as well?
Michelle's dress was the clear winner. I had some questions about its relation to the rose, but she explained it very well during the runway. Out of all of them, hers is the only one that I immediately could see in a store.
I continue to dislike Patricia. Her shiny pants were not awesome. Also, I didn't care for how she was immediately petulant to Stanley. He could have been nicer, but it seemed like she set it up as a conflict from the jump. I did like how they bonded over the course of the episode. Their hug near the end was sweet.
So yeah, final three prediction: Michelle Stanley Layana

I agree with that final three, that's exactly who I'd pick as well at this point. And also who I am really hoping for!
Layana is good but not in the same class as the other two in my opinion. She gets it over the other three because Richard makes some hot messes at time, Daniel isn't innovating enough and Patricia... well, I think I have covered that one enough.
i think they are getting down to the point where it will be really hard to get rid of people and they will have to nitpick. plus what is the reality that they will all like the same ones? it can't really happen all the time.
i am sad about the last person to go home, i really liked them.

I think she (we are more than three days past now, so I'm assuming it is okay to not spoiler now) was, personality wise, one of the least offensive people there. Design wise, I thought she was also a front runner, but I did think her outfit this week was really badly executed. She couldn't put some relatively stiff interfacing in that thing? That heart was sad! And wilted was exactly the right word for the skirt of it.
“You don’t just give up. You don’t just let things happen. You make a stand! You say no! You have the guts to do what’s right, even when everyone else just runs away.”

I am sure there is a bit of discussion about who gets the boot from the first episode to the last. Well, there are some episodes where one is just head and shoulders the worst/best. For example, this episode could have really went either way between the two people in the bottom two depending on what criteria they wanted to use, but the winner was pretty clear cut IMO.
i'm in the middle of the episode and they are all annoying the crap out of me! i don't like any of them anymore.
THIS
I feel like this season isn't allowing the audience to get a feel for each designer's aesthetic. A few stand out, but that's because they're pretty headstrong. (Patricia, Michelle) But what does Stanley do? I'm not really sure.

I am watching now. Before it gets going, I just want to express that I f*cking hate that they are all pissing themselves over the Guggenheim. Frank Lloyd Wright was a hack.
