Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo in 2013!!
Something else worth noting, the last year I went, they actually had a really interesting Q&A with some people from Children's Hospital promoting the show before it debuted (the actual session had little to nothing to do with the show), and it ended up as a gag that they played on the audience... showing graphic birth footage and other surgical video, it was something else to put it lightly.
Basically, they should keep it, but not just relegate it to watching something on a screen, whether it be soccer or movies... we have the comedy tent for comedy, using the tent for other types of exhibitions like a q&a with other artists of film, music, or visual art.

how about an indoor hockey rink type floor? PEX tubing and they can use that heat sink type form of refrigeration to cool an underground "cube" that being underground is a much lower temperature and they can therfore generate a block of ice of goodly sized proportions to cover the floor and simple pump to circulate water around the block it could go to some form of synthetic marble or even concrete that is cool to lay on and hygenic as it can be hosed down to be washed kind of like that slab of marble at Cold Stone creameries that they mix the ice cream up on and fold in the gummy wigglers bears etc. and the corn candies. To even make it green they could build a methand digester for all of the portopotties and use the offgassing to the process escapes me but where they use propane to cool a refirgerator like in RV's etc. I have noticed those covered porto's now have some rudimentary plumbing in them the busier bonnaroo gets the more power would be available to run into a gas line and freeze the big block of ice that the PEX lines would circulate through and around to Cold Stone Creamery radiant floor type cooling area they could eliminate the waste being hauled off and get carbon credits as those portos would provide enough shiz to power manchester for probably several months after the festie! oh yes and they can build the walls for this structure out of hay bales I am sure they can get plnety of that at least once a year! earthen floored PEX tubing I have just become a Civil Engineer!

I enjoy the Cinema Tent. Last year I got to see Band in DC, a film that as far as I can tell is not available on Netflix or on demand or in theaters. It added to my enjoyment of Bad Brains' set later in the weekend as well.
I will agree that I often seek it out because it is the most effective AC in Centeroo. That place is cold. I do usually catch at least one showing a year, though.
The fact that it's always busy -- demonstrated by those of you complaining about the lines -- indicates that it is a successful part of the festival. It is much improved over the early incarnation that was basically a screen in a tent providing shade, no AC and no protection from sound bleed. (I think that this was 2004.)
Finally, the festival really seems to put effort into booking events that are special, be it Lebowskifest or artist Q&A's or documentaries. Also, I hate basketball but the NBA finals appear to be wildly popular. World Cup soccer was as well.

I too totally support the Cinema Tent. I made it a point last year to FINALLY watch an NBA playoff game in there and it literally was amazing. The atmosphere was totally electric. They have some good documentaries (I so hope they play Searching for Sugar Man this year and maybe even get Rodriguez to play)and great guests.
Q&A segements are also pretty common in there as well as the "chance to cool off and rest" Keep the cinema tent. You wanna get rid of something? SAY GOODBYE TO THE DAMN WATER SLIDE!

I'm conflicted.... I love that they have rarities, good documentaries, artist appearances, Q and A sessions, and sometimes they play old favorites. Then again... I've never gone and actually seen one of those or stuck around.
Phi doesn't care because he has no taste in films (see: Lebowski). Hey it was once host to a Lebowski-fest!! Plus the R. Kelly sing along, dark side of the oz, and all others that people mentioned... I think that's cool! Totally has outrageous potential to finally bring a good shadowcast of Rocky Horror Picture Show too!
Let the babies have their bottles and let the cinema tent stay for those that DO enjoy it. I think for a lot of Bonnaroo attendee's it is more than just a place to sit out of the hot sun.

It's the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. Not everyone is as obsessed with the music as some of us are. In 7 Bonnaroos, I've spent maybe 10 minutes in the Cinema Tent. But I don't begrudge them offering that option to try and present a more varied selection.

Cinema tent is awesome. I've seen amazing things there and it's usually before or after music is playing. I get my moneys worth in the concerts and the cinema/comedy tents just add to the enjoyment.
The cinema tent used to be better. There were never any lines and you could just wander in there and crash for a few minutes in the AC. But now it is much different.
There never used to be lines because it used to just show movies. Now there are exclusive things, interesting documentaries, cool Q&A's with directors/cast as well as performances. They've stepped their game up in the cinema tent.
Though I also support bringing back couches. Just don't let one person sleep on it for 8 hours.

I'm a huge film buff but I could take it or leave it frankly. I will agree that they have stepped up their game in terms of what they have been offering over the years that I have attended Roo but I'm not sure it's totally necessary.
If it does go, I also agree that it provides further possibilities for re-arranging the grounds within Centeroo. The one thing I would really love would be to enter Centeroo on Thursday afternoon to find that the bulk of the grounds had been rethought and totally transformed. As much as I love the place it would be great to feel like a noob and have to find my bearings all over again. As it stands, I can find my way around the place blindfolded.

I'm indifferent to the cinema tent. In seven roos, I've been inside it once - and that was last year. That said/written, as long as it's popular, I don't see why they should get rid of it. The screening I saw, the new Dax Shepard flick - complete with a post screening Q and A with him and Kristen Bell, was packed.
April 12-14th - Indio, CA - Coachella Weekend 1
May 3-5th - Memphis, TN - Beale St. Music Festival
June 13-16th - Manchester, TN - Bonnaroo
July 12-14th - Louisville, KY - Forecastle Festival
August 2-4th - Chicago, IL - Lollapalooza
September 27-29th - Atlanta, GA - TomorrowWorld
October 25-27th - Asheville, NC - Mountain Oasis

I have to admit I texted my wife, who was back in Ohio, a few times from the post show Q and A. I think I mentioned hoping to "bump" into her at one of the LNs.
I had a couple of great moments in the Cinema tent last year. Watching Adult Swim stuff during RHCP was a ton of fun, really enthusiastic crowd in there, tons of laughing. Also watching rare Upright Citizens Brigade skits with Matt Bessemer MCing was way cool, I am a crazy UCB fan. A niche treat to be sure, but a treat nonetheless.
Having said that, if eliminating the Cinema tent means somehow fixing sound on the Which, or expanding the Comedy Tent, I'm all for it.
Just because your ass didn't get into the trapped in the closet sing-a-long doesn't mean you have to burn down the tent! Congrats on the "worst thread architect" nomination phi...

At 3 in the morning me and my friend just got done eating some fun guys and stumbled into R.Kellys trapped in the closet sing a long. Easily one of my favorite Roo moments hah

for clarification...was the favorite moment stumbling into the cinema tent, or eating the fun guys?
Honestly I haven't been in the tent since 2005 (do they still have all the couches or is it just chairs now?), but stumbling in for a 4 AM screening of Friday 13th was pretty spectacular.

Haha, Well the fun guys certainly enhanced the sing a long. But the sing along was definitely the best part. It was thursday night I believe and it was my first Roo. So this was my first "OH MY GOSH this is what Bonnaroo is all about" moment. So the cinema tent will always have a special place in my heart. With that being said I didnt step another foot in there all weekend

Thanks, Phi. The Kristen Bell pic made my day so much better. Just for that I change my opinion and vote to keep the Cinema tent as long as they only show Kristen Bell films.

Can we also include Kristen Bell TV? It would be worth it just for her appearances on Craig Ferguson alone!
Plus...
Edit: I hate when images all of a sudden stop working...

Band in DC was awesome for me too, and I only caught the final twenty minutes of Reggie Watts's score for The Last Starfighter (couldn't hear D'Angelo well and I'm not a huge fan, I believe Spectrum Road just wrapped as well) and it was amazing. I think if anything, Roo needs to shift the tent's focus on stuff like that with a live component, or limited run documentaries.

I like the cinema tent, but I only like it because of the a/c. I wouldn't care what movie was showing as long as I can escape the heat even for just a few minutes.
I remember in 2011 my friends and I were waiting in line for the cinema tent when someone was yelling at us " Don't go in there, they're not even showing Ghostbusters!!" All I was thinking was, as long as the a/c was on I could care less what was playing.
