Oh man, I remember them. Back in my "fuck the world and everything in it" phase (2007-10), I listened to them a bunch as an outlet for my deep seething hatred of religion.

I've calmed down quite a lot since then.
They put on a good show, vocalist was fun to watch with good stage presence. I just couldn't really get into the music.
Rwake is definitely one of my favorite metal bands, especially with their most recent release, Rest. I've yet to find anyone that has a similar sound, but I know there has to be a few! Closest I can find is something like Mouth of the Architect (really enjoy their early stuff).
I love aspects of sludge, black, psych, and post metal, and Rwake seems to combine all of those into the perfect mix for me. All with some clean southern guitars over the top at times.

So any recommendations are welcome/appreciated!
I've never really listened to Rwake. Any place I should start?

Their most recent album, Rest, is definitely my favorite of theirs. I'd probably suggest that as a starting point. Their earlier stuff is a little more raw and fast, without as much sludge, but still awesome. The Voices of Omen album would probably be my second choice.

I've been listening to this song pretty much all morning. This is the lead track of their forthcoming record Welcome To The Panopticon and hopefully it comes out this year.
I mean, well played by CoS on Bell Witch and Tribulation, but the rest is really questionable (especially that terrible Liturgy record). No Minsk, High on Fire, Napalm Death, Torche, Bosse-de-nage, The Body and Thou...
Man I really love that Bosse-De-Nage record. Do you know of any recent releases similar in style?

Agreed. There are some real clunkers on that list. I liked that Bell Witch a lot but would have a hard time putting it at #1.

“We found the music regulated sadness and enhanced positive emotions,” Sharman said. “When experiencing anger, extreme-music fans liked to listen to music that could match their anger.”
“The music helped them explore the full gamut of emotion they felt, but also left them feeling more active and inspired,” reads the study.
“Results showed levels of hostility, irritability and stress decreased after music was introduced, and the most significant change reported was the level of inspiration they felt.”
This explains why I found God Hates Us All somewhat calming when me and my wife were separated.
