17 year old Larry LaLonde cut his teeth in Possessed for three albums before moving on to Primus in the 90s.
The only reason I remembered was we were listening to an old compilation that Fenriz produced in the 90s of bands, he thought were early versions of black metal. He threw in a bunch of proto BM stuff like Mercyful Fate and Sarcófago with thrash bands like Destruction.
Fenriz apparently tried to get Possesed on it but LaLonde blocked the contribution as he didn't wanna be associated with that style of music.
Inforoo has a tendency to have this weird side love for pop music. Just ask garageland about Carly Rae Jepsen. For me, Miley is a great example of an artist that I would expect to be fun live, but I would never pay to go to one of her shows.
I actually watched the movie this is from. It's called Deathgasm and is/was on Prime. Good amount of metal jokes.
“Zakk got expelled after stabbing a kid with a math compass because he stepped on his King Diamond tape. Or was it a setsquare?”
Absolutely. I knew where the memes were from but I didn't get to see it till recently. It's definitely a fun movie but nothing you have to see more than once or twice.
On a metal note, my big record order comes in today from the "Russian Federation". It's only been two months and I'm salivating waiting.
Posting this because I'm sure I'm on a list now somewhere.
I'm using 2020 to fill out some some holes in my physical collection.
So far I've finished out Poison (not to be confused with the other band) and Enslaved. Do I go with the later era Darkthrone or start tracking down Hirax vinyl?
I was thinking the other day that there are going to be a lot of stores that can't handle this. The whole business is made in rifling through shit.
Most of the stores that I deal with has straight up gone to mail order only. As long as the mail is operational, it'll get to you.
It's really impulse buys that they're loosing. I dropped cash on a Show No Mercy original from a guy in Chicago yesterday. You're not gonna loose to collectors.
smh bold of you to post this and then not share a list.
Lol
Start with Heavy Metal Parking Lot and then Decile of Western Civilization: The Metal Years.
I'll get a list up tomorrow
lol, I had to explain all 3 of the Western Civilization movies to a coworker the other day in the process of accidentally referencing what a crust punk was. Not my proudest moment, but still! I am excited for the rest of the list, though.
