I'm going to Coachella with some friends whom are big (but somewhat casual) pop-EDM fans. I am ok with a little cheese myself, but my biggest complaint is most of the big names seem play the same sh*t as each other. Levels is a great song, but hearing it at 2 or 3 different sets is unspeakably lame. I'm looking for a little advice on what shows should I be hitting with my friends, and when's a good time to break off from them and do other stuff.
So of the big names, who is the best live? When the Coachella and Bonnaroo EDM tent line-ups come out we can talk more specifically about those, but I'd appreciate general advice.
My criteria (feel free to describe your own):
1. How different is an Artist's set from his/her peers? What are the odds that "Save the World" or "Levels" is in their set?
2. How subjectively good is the artist as a producer and performer? (I think Calvin Harris is a great pop-producer, but I've seen him twice and hated both of his sets).
3. Live mixing or choreographed show? I have no strong opinion about this but interested in everyone's input. Daft Punk puts on a choreographed show but it's almost exclusively a performance of their own music (or super random stuff), which I like.
This is kinda what I'm asking, of the big bass droppers, is Bassnecter the best? I honestly have no clue. Everyone seems to think Prydz is the best cheese DJ out there, do people agree?
Bassnectar has probably been my favorite of the ones I've seen but I honestly don't have enough experience with others to know. Pretty Lights and Big Gigantic both put on fantastic shows as well. If STS9 fits into this category these days they are easily the best though.

I think a lot of it has to do with playing to the crowd and bassnecatar does a good job of that. I've seen him 4 times and I didn't hear the same set or portion of the set in the same way. He does sample other artists but only in a small part. Once the coach lineup comes out it will be easier to say which is worth going to.
April 12-14th - Indio, CA - Coachella Weekend 1
May 3-5th - Memphis, TN - Beale St. Music Festival
June 13-16th - Manchester, TN - Bonnaroo
July 12-14th - Louisville, KY - Forecastle Festival
August 2-4th - Chicago, IL - Lollapalooza
September 27-29th - Atlanta, GA - TomorrowWorld
October 25-27th - Asheville, NC - Mountain Oasis
I guess I should say I have friends that love the cheese and if I have nothing to do on a given night I'll occasionally go to one of these shows with them. I've seen guys like Porter Robinson, Madeon, Afrojack, Laidback Luke, Tommy Trash, Prydz, Guetta, Tiesto, Skrillex, knife party and some others.
Guetta was my least favorite by far, he talked constantly (including some idiotic speech for about 10 minutes in the middle of his set) and I guess being the last act of the day/night meant I had already heard every song he was doing already and was bored with it.

I don't even know if I like or don't like cheese. I have a newer EDM playlist with Zedd, Cazzette, Holy Ghost!, Hot Chip, Danny Dove, Ivan Gough, Madeon, Dada Life, St Lucia, Kaskade, Icona Pop, Friendly Fires, Destructo, Kelis and a few more. How is my cheese-o-meter?

I haven't heard too much, I just like The City. Haven't seen him live. My faves in that list, Holy Ghost!, Hot Chip, Friendly Fires, St Lucia, Kaskade. I definitely lean more towards electo-pop. Cut Copy is probably my faorite. But not sure that those are straight EDM music.
For straight EDM: SHM, Kelis, Danny Dove, TEED, Laidback Luke, and a few others really get my shiz going. Its music that I love to run to as well.

I think it's wonderful that the purpose of this thread (HELP HORN FIND SOME CHEESE TO LOVE FOR COACHELLA) is almost null and void since they booked some seriously awsome EDM this year and not a ton of garbage. Hell, the odds that I wander into the Sahara are really high.
Horn, check out Eric Prydz. I think he's pretty fun and really well done..

Honestly. I was planning on just posting the whole Coachella lineup in here and letting Phi diagram it for me, but basically not necessary. Now there's only a handful of names I need to give an serious listen to.
