Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo in 2013!!
If North End is Boston (I concur here), where does the Joy fit in? There is a Joy Street, but it's not in that neighborhood. A spirit shaker, literally is like shaken-not-stirred. One of these is Called a Boston Shaker.
The Believe thing is so wide open. Sleigh Bells seems to fit really well. But that would make it way more obvious than clues in years past.

I think we're all thinking about these things way too hard. We're approaching them as if they're the clues from the past, which they aren't. Gary Chardonnay is presently sealed in a 55-gallon drum in the Big Capp Dogg's basement, he's not dropping cryptic clues and hints anymore. What they're doing is appealing to a much broader, more casual audience - the clues are publicized and announced through Facebook and Twitter, with a scavenger hunt to find them. If they're appealing to the more casual Bonnaroo fan (and not the basement-dwelling weirdos that congregate on here), it makes sense that they'd both a) make the clues easier/more obvious, and b) make the clues correspond to bigger/more widespread names. Last year we were getting sh*t like the Fruit Bats and Mogwai and whatnot - names that might be important to festival obsessives, but not to the common consumer. I remember when some of these "answers" were posted on Bonnaroo's Facebook in the past few years, the overwhelming majority of responses from non-Inforooers was "so?" Having these clues correspond to acts like Animal Collective, Japandroids, Sleigh Bells...these are pretty popular "buzz" bands, who will resonate with the younger/trendier casual crowd, while not being huge/rare "gets" of which an early leak would potentially undermine the impact of the full lineup drop.
I know, tl; dr, but the long story short is that thinking about this year's clues in terms of previous years, particularly the whole "that band is too big/obvious" or "the clue is too easy/answer too simple," is a mistake. I think obvious works well.
Joy on the North End: (This is the only part I'm not sure of) But, they're from down south (Texas) and rarely do much touring in the Northern US. Or, North End could be a vague reference to living people not buried 6 feet under enjoying a Ghostland show... maybe... ? Or maybe even a reference to your brain (north/topmost part of your body) being blown by their laser show...
Spiritual shaking abounds: The lead singer Aaron is known for his dancing on stage during their shows. Ghosts -> Spirits, Shaking -> Dancing
But do you believe? - in ghosts? in your ability to see ghosts?
I like the significance of the clue being placed at the entrance to a cemetery (so while reading you're observing ghost-land, if you believe in ghosts). I just wish I could make the first line fit better.
Sleigh Bells seems too obvious, just based on the answers to the other 2 clues we've had so far.

I'm digging your thinking on 2 and 3, now just to make #1 fit haha..
Sleigh Bells does seem pretty damn obvious if that's the answer though, even Animal Collective took a little research (granted it was just through wikipedia, but still)

i think sleigh bells fits great, but looking into it i thought zero 7 fit well as well joy from the north end - from england spiritual shaking abounds - they have album spirit of talk talk but does one believe - on that album they have a song called i dont believe in you, and one called i do believe in you as well as another single called do you believe one of there album covers also says yeah ghost that could fit somewhere...

That all seems to fit how the clue hints have worked so far a little better (hints to song or album names) than most of what's been said so far. The question is, will Zero 7 tour in 2013?

I began doing research on Amanda Palmer to connect her to the Haiku since she has macabre tendencies, but she cancelled her tour this year, apparently.
Pixies? It's a stretch I admit, but I'll give it a go.
Joy from the north end - They formed in Boston
Spiritual shaking abounds - According to Wikipedia: "In the Christian era they were sometimes said to be the souls of children who had died un-baptized." They also inspired Smells Like Teen Spirit
But does one believe? - Pixies are mythological to begin with, but in addition, the bad has a song called "Monkey Gone to Heaven", which has lyrics like "If man is 5 [x4]/then the devil is 6 [x4]/and if the devil is six/then god is 7 [x3]" . They also have songs called "Make Believe" and "Space (I Believe In)". Lastly, I want to believe.
The cemetery may have to do with Monkey gone to Heaven.
The other boston artist that caught my eye was Rob Zombie, but I'm not familiar enough with him to make a connection past the cemetary.
Another idea: Father John Misty? We know he'll be there and he fits the clue pretty well. Joy from the north end - It may not be the north end specifically, but Josh Tillman has been based in Seattle for a long time.
Spiritual shaking abounds
But does one believe? - Father John Misty is a pastor's title, and Tillman has talked about his history growing up in a Christian household and eventually losing his faith.
As for the cemetery, I believe "Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings" is the first song FMJ released.

Joy on the north end - his light up mouse head lights up/goes crazy, probably causing quite a bit of joy. Spiritual shaking abounds - he's a DJ, so people are going to be dancing. He also did a collab with Kaskade called "move with me" But does one believe? - he's a dead mouse. do you believe in ghosts 'n' stuff?
I haven't seen the clue, but Stone Sour is from Des Moines, they have former band members who have died, and stone = tombstone. It seems like it works, although I have yet to see the clue.
Edit: now I've seen the clue haha
Corey Taylor of Stone Sour was on a local Kansas City morning show today. They talked about a (I think rye) alcohol that he enjoys. He told a story from the prohibition era about a headstone with a removable plaque located in a graveyard in Iowa. People would take the plaque off put money inside and bootleggers would replace the money with the alcohol he was talking about. I don't know if this can help in finding the answer or not to this riddle but I thought I would share this info. For the last several years I have been watching you all at this game. You guys are good, damn good. I've been a long time lurker of the site and finally started creating a profe tonight so maybe I can get in on all the hair pulling fun with you guys.
