Eric Clapton will celebrate 50 years in the music business with a 2013 tour. The area tour will culminate with a two-day version of his Crossroads Guitar Festival at New York’s Madison Square Garden on April 12-13. This is the fourth time Clapton has hosted a Crossroads Guitar Festival and the first time he has brought the axe summit to MSG.
“The Crossroads Festival is the realization of a dream for me, to gather a group of amazingly talented musicians to perform on one stage,” said Clapton. “
The Crossroads performers are all musicians I admire and respect.”Artists slated to appear at the two-day event include Allman Brothers Band, BB King, Blake Mills, Booker T, Brad Paisley, Buddy Guy, Citizen Cope, Doyle Bramhall II, Gary Clark Jr., Jeff Beck, Jimmie Vaughan, John Mayer, John Scofield, Jonny Lang, Keb Mo, Keith Urban, Los Lobos, Robbie Robertson, Robert Cray, Robert Randolph, Sonny Landreth, Taj Mahal and Vince Gill. Some arts will perform both nights while others will make one appearance during the event.
In addition to the concerts, the “Guitar Center Road to Crossroads Exhibition” will be featured on the Terrace level at Madison Square Garden and will excite fans with an incredible guitar-centric celebration of past Crossroads Guitar Festivals. This exhibition will feature the “Legends Guitar Walk,” with some of the most valuable guitars in the history of Rock and Blues, including historic guitars from Clapton’s personal collection.
Clapton’s band for his upcoming tour and Crossroads sets includes Doyle Bramhall II (guitar), Steve Jordan (drums), Chris Stainton (piano and keyboards), Willie Weeks (bass), Paul Carrack (organ and keyboards) and Greg Leisz (pedal steel guitar) as well as singers Michelle John and Sharon White. The Wallflowers will open for Clapton throughout this 2013 tour leading up to Crossroads.

^I know you were joking, but Bonnaroo is 6/13-6/16 this year, not the weekend of 6/8. Sorry, Flanzo: no Slowhand on the farm this year.
Ah dang it, sorry about that.
Clapton is great, but his show in NOLA a few years back was surprisingly underwhelming. One of the rare times I actually regretted spending money on a ticket ($100 apiece).
Is it just me or does Vince Gill stand out a little bit?
I remember an old story about Vince Gill playing a state fair show decades ago. He told the crowd that if they kept cheering, he'd keep playing. The show supposedly went well into the wee hours, making for a 5-6 hour performance.
