Nah, I think he will get stuck with an afternoon tent slot, and then get booked at Forecastle as a Pre HL.
Also what the hell does this mean. I would take a tent over a stage any day. If he tours with a band and the rest of the album is a weird as the single I could see a really fucking awesome latenight tent.

I think ITM is right on. No way Jim James plays a tent. He would be a great curator and I'm sure it would be the weirdest tent lineup ever. He should get Which pre-headliner. He would also probably bring a ton of guests. A Jim and Friends set.

Jim James/MMJ in any form is always welcome in my eyes. Although sadly, MMJ likely wont happen until 2014/15. I could see Jim in a tent due to Jim James as a solo artist not being well-known to the common person. Flogging Molly is unfortunately more known and they were in a tent and the Civil Wars as well.

I liked it a lot. It was a calm, simple show with a few moments of higher energy. Basic set that I expected from him. Nothing to amazing but solid works. I love the sounds that can be created by just two guys (he had a multi-instrumentalist backing him up for most of it.

Stole this info from the MMJ boards:
When Jim was on WXPN in Philly on Tuesday night he was asked about recording a new Jacket album. His response was that they'd probably be recording "after summer" after he finished touring his solo album.
Summer tour = perfect for Bonnaroo and/or Newport Folk

On a side note I just found out my Music Theory professor knows Jim and has played with him before. Apparently when Months of Sunday or w/e broke up and Jim was looking for a new band my prof played bass with them but said he wasn't really feeling the music so turned down the offer (he said when MMJ first started they were really really bad) MMJ played some of their very first shows at my school too.
Jim handed out cassettes he had taped their first demo over at the shows. My teacher has an Aladdin soundtrack tape that has an early MMJ demo taped over it. Apparently he and Jim still talk occasionally, and met up at Forecastle this year.
This all has 0 to do with anything, but I just thought it was really awesome.

Get your teacher to ask him about Bonnaroo, duh. That is a cool story though about them sucking and just look at them now. They really developed their sound and made it into their own genre.
Yeah I am gonna slide that into conversation sometime, also gonna ask if he'll set me and Jim up on a bro date. And I'm definitely going to try and get my hands on that Demo tape, at least to see if I can get a copy of it or something.
But yeah, I asked if he regretted turning down Jim and he said sometimes it stings a bit, but that whole lifestyle isn't his thing.
