I know that I will get blasted for this, but I did not care for the album. A couple of songs were pretty good but most of it remind me of 80's soft rock.

Always curious about this....how many times did you listen to it? Multiple listens? Once or twice through? Also how did you do it? At your computer desk? In the car? In your home?
Sometimes these things can change my view on an album.

I enjoyed the new album, but it's a departure from MMJ. I saw his appearance on Fallon - and loved it - but I'm still interested in how some of the songs will translate to the live setting. My wife and I have tics for the Columbus show this spring, so I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I went through most of it twice. It was at my desk but with ear buds. Might try it again later, but just did not have a connection to the album.

Give it more focus. And more than ear buds. I love this album

Personal review of Jim James' solo album: it is like listening to a dream, on acid, with sour straws and marshmallows. You don't know how you got here but there's a monkey in the room and he is brushing your hair. You're not sure why but he is wearing a monocle, and it is good. 5 stars, highly recommended.
