I love that guy, from Squidbillies through his live act. From his Facebook page:
"Please come on out for a swing with the King in Richmond at the Capital Ale House. This will be one of the last shows Unknown ever plays. Next week we have Ft. Wayne on Nov 15, Evanston on Nov 16 and the grand exit on Nov 17 in Covington Ky at the Madison. Please come out and give us your farewell blessings. The road is just too expensive, and we've been in the red financially this year - it can 't go on if gas, hotels, taxes, agent fees and band payroll continue to rise. We'll have to cut our losses and figure out something else to do. A new career - pretty exciting for a couple of old geezers like us. We love our fans, thanks so much for sticking with us for 17 years. It's time to change the station. The amazing number of wonderful friendships we've developed over the years sure helps to numb the pain of giving up on a dream. We're survivors - we'll be back in some capacity, who knows what - magician, ventriloquist, being shot out of a cannon. And we still have that Unknown Hinson DVD to finish and distribute. Love to all, Unknown Hinson and Margo Baker Unknown Hinson and Margo Bakerwe still have that Unknown Hinson DVD to finish and distribute. Love to all, Unknown Hinson and Margo Baker"
Got to see him in concert a number of years ago... really entertaining show, and the guy is quite the underrated guitarist. I would have liked to have seen him one more time, though.
First saw him in 2005 in a bar with like 30 people there. Had no clue who he was and was blown away! Saw him again a year later and then not again until this past September.
Got to meet him, got my pic with him and he signed the shirt I bought. Glad I made it out to that show! Super cool guy.
I've seen him 4 times, but that last show in p'cola in Sept after emerald coast beerfest was the best one. He played two sets and his band was incredible. This sounds like some bullmess to me. That last show was packed the fuck out and he has definitely gotten WAAAAY more popular due to the impact of Squidbillies. He's just tired of doing the tour mess is all this is.

I hope you're right. I haven't gotten to see him in person yet and now I'm afraid I won't ever get to...I've just followed his work on Squidbillies and listened to his albums and watched his concert videos.

If you've never seen him live and can get to one of these last shows do it. His shows are so much fun. I wish I could get to the Covington show but that's the night of my daughter's sleepover/birthday party.
