You dont get up in the am and question whether the sky will be blue do you? Juggs and the internet are always right. Do you have a lawyer for when I sue?

Hardly conclusive evidence that the Stones would play.. also, not sure how open the Riverbend folks are, but taking pictures of contracts and sharing them with the internet seems like a bad idea. Thanks though, I've never seen a festival contract before.

What's the biggest act ever at Riverbend? I'm sure they don't have 2 mil for The Rolling Stones and wouldn't even consider them. I don't even think they could handle the logistics around booking a band like that.
Maybe they offered something to The Rolling Stones to perform in some kind of Arena, but I'm sure not for Riverbend Festival.
Hahahaha how does Riverbend paying 125,000 for some shitty country act mean they have the money for the Rolling Stones. That is probably less than 10% than what the Stones require to play.
Also I hear the Stones aren't a big fan of contracts that have had a slice of pizza dropped on them

You're crazy thinking Rolling Stones would be booked under 1 million dollar. They got payed over 25 million for the first 4 concerts they played. That's about 6 million per concert. The tickets were really expensive to still make a profit of the concerts.
"Discussing the ticket prices, Scott Rowley, Editor In Chief of Classic Rock, who will host the Classic Rock Roll of Honour next month, said: "The thing is that people will pay it. The Stones don't tour that often so it's still a special event, there's the suggestion that this really could be the last time, plus you know you're going to enjoy it. People pay that much money for football games that end 0-0." "
Why not? Last year the attendance was in the realm of 650,000 www.riverbendfestival.com/pages/general-information Just because it draws every rednecks out of the woods doesn't mean its a bunch of rednecks running it. Ben folds will be the biggest act we've had I believe. I got an explanation about Brandy. The entertainment manager says, "R&B night is always a looser for us so why drop a lot of money on a big name act?" Riverbend is also a non profit organization with a board of directors so its not like we have all kinds of free will. We barely escaped being forced to book Paula Abdul... Also when your loking at big name artists the cost is usually in the hundreds of thousands and very rarely gets up into the millions. Anybody who paid 2 million for the Rolling Stones paid the "Go away we're not interested" price.
For example. I'm working with another festival in its first year. We contacted Moon Taxi's booking agent. He quoted $10,000. Riverbend paid $3500. When they are not interested in the venue usually a higher price is quoted. I highly doubt that the stones are getting booked a 2 million for a festival. I'll try and find out today what we offered. I'm about to head to the office.
Biggest act is Ben Folds? A pre-closer from the which stage last year?
I'm guessing you haven't taken an introduction to economics class in college yet, hell even in high school. Moon Taxi isn't exactly a big time name. They don't have the ability to be very stubborn about their price.
The Rolling Stones are one of the biggest names in Rock and Roll, who have played a total of 4 sold out shows in the last 4 years. At those shows the cheapest ticket was over $100 and went up from there. They are not going to be talked down by some no name festival in a town that has a population smaller than some of the crowds they have played for.
When I said 125 grand was less than 10% of what the Stones would want I was low balling by at least a million.

Riverbend Intern: Every time you post the business workings of the festival you're working for on the internet, you hurt your long-term prospects in the industry. It sounds like you have a cool boss. Don't fck it up.
"Riverbend pins are now on sale for $32 at area Kangaroo Stores until midnight, June 7. Pins will cost $45 if purchased at the festival gates from June 8-16. A one day armband will be available at the Riverbend gates for $26."
Last year you could buy a pin for every night of Riverbend for $32. I bet you could barely buy a beer at those Rolling Stones concerts for 32$

Maybe he heard The Stooges instead of The Stones. I could see them headline a festival like Riverbend. Thinking The Stones would even consider playing a town called Chattanooga is ridiculous.
I'm not trying to hate on Chattanooga, I really enjoyed my time there last year, but we are talking about a town whose biggest moment in popular music was this

Funny story about Tucson and Chattanooga. Every time a city successfully builds something as part of downtown revitalization project Tucson decides that that is the thing that they need. It has been going on for years and years and the city has wasted something like 100 million dollars on committees and plans on how they are going to make downtown Tucson not suck.
This included Chattanooga's aquarium. Right after that was finished Tucson decided the Sonoran desert was a fantastic place to have a 52 million dollar aquarium. Of course like everything else they spent a pretty penny talking about it and then scrapped the idea for whatever the next trend was (KFC Yumm Center I think)

Riverbend could maybe, if they were lucky get WSP to play. Thinking they would get The Rolling Stones to play for under a million is hilarious. Maybe if it was $999,999.99 per member, but still probably not.
Spoke to a couple guys from Calexico after their show in Dallas night. I asked them about Roo and they seemed genuine when they said they didn't know. Kinda doubt they'll be there which is too bad because they put on a hell of a show.

Let's be honest, it would be pretty hilarious to see the look on the Rolling Stones' booking agent's face when a pizza-stained contract for $125,000 showed up on their desk.
