To be honest, the cat empire was mine too.
I had looked into them a little bit before roo, and I made a point to drag my best friend to the front for their show on Thursday. I don't think I stopped dancing their entire set. It was, without a doubt, one of the greatest roo shows I've ever seen. Those guys had the most amazing energy.
i'm going where the sun keeps shining, thru' the pouring rain, going where the weather suits my clothes. backing off of the north east wind, sailing on summer breeze, and skipping over the ocean like a stone.
Mine was Buddy Guy in 06. I looked away from the stage for a second and when I looked up Buddy guy was in front of my playing in the crowd. My buddy has a great picture of the whole thing. It was the ah-ha moment for me!

Andrew Bird in 06. That Thursday night, I saw a few cool shows but nothing I was blown away over. And then Bird came on and absolutely destroyed my brain. Like, holy crap he absolutely killed it. Right then, I knew that Bonnaroo would be an experience like no other.
Los Lonely Boys in '04. They opened Friday at the Which Stage. It was just before their first CD exploded. They put on a great show. I knew right then and there that I was going to like this whole Bonnaroo thing.

Bright Eyes in 06. No offense to anyone I saw before them, but they really put me in a special place that carried on through the whole weekend. Lua with David Rawlings and Gillian Welch was absolutely beautiful.
Damn, now I want to hear it...
Anyone willing to put that up on sendspace or something?
rose hill drive was the first band i saw at bonnaroo in 05. so that will stick with me. walking up watching this band that i had never heard of, seeing them with probably only 50 people and they totally rocked our faces off. but that was just the start of it. every band i saw that year was amazing.

I would also have to say The Motet, then I walked back to VIP and watched the Rebirth Brass Band, while chugging down Magic Hat NO 9and sweetwater 420 just getting morbidly wasted, the band wanted to know what I was drinking, cause I was getting down to it, then I set out to find the other tent to see Electric Eel Shock, I never found it but was walking around in the artist compound( I later found out).I was drunk, and pissed I couldn't find where I wanted to go, but needless to say, I settled on Toubab Krewe, who melted my face off. A great start to my first Roo.
