I've never been able to get into Jason Isbell's solo stuff. But maybe I just haven't given him a shot. I did like the video for Alabama Pines posted on his introduction on NFF's website.

Roses are red, violets are blue... We love Jim James, and so should you! Please welcome him back to our festival family and to our 2013 lineup! www.newportfolkfest.net/introducing/jim-james
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

This makes me also hope that he has a second performance with Monsters of Folk (one of the few bands that I've been dying to see but just couldn't find a way to any of their shows in the years that they toured).
Or even better, She & Him is another band that keeps eluding me. Maybe I can get She & Him and Monsters of Folk (what would be even better is Desaparecidos as well, but there's nothing folk about them).

Going to the NFF for the first time. Really excited! Have a question about how easy it is to get to the festival from different areas of town. Does public transportation go to the park? Bought parking pass but I'd rather get there another way. Also driving there from Cleveland--- best route?
You'll love it. Best route from where you are is I-80 E to the Garden State Pkwy N to I-87 E to I-287 E to I-95 N to RI-138 E (Exit 3 in RI off of I-95) to Newport. I know there are water taxis from the Harbor to Fort Adams (the venue) but I've never taken one. I have seen long lines waiting for them after the fest but I don't know how fast the lines move. I would expect that there are buses too but I've only ever driven in. Newport is jammed on any summer weekend day and NFF is exponentially more crowded. Traffic will suck getting from town to Fort Adams no matter what. Really the fastest way in and out is to bike. It takes a long time to get your car out of the parking area to wherever you want to go as there is only one entrance/exit road into Fort Adams.
Anybody else have like, a HUGE problem with people setting up lawn chairs 5 feet in front of the main stage at this fest? It's a complete joke
No. It's a much more mellow, family-oriented festival with a predominantly older crowd. There are people who live locally and go every year, just set up at the main stage with chairs and a cooler and hang out all day. It's not the kind of fest where people necessarily need to crowd up front to be three feet from the HOT RAGING FOLK ACTION.
