Bonnaroo seems to like to have someone either from the current year's Hall of Fame class or the last year's. The HoF has released their 15 nominees for 2013. Who do you think is most likely at Bonnaroo?
I think Rush and Deep Purple are probably both locks to get in. Probably either Joan Jett, Heart, or Randy Newman are next most likely, but who knows?
Rush would make me very happy. I'd probably go see Deep Purple although I'm not sure where they'd slot with the current lineup, unless they could coax Blackmore back for a reunion.
I'd love to see Joan Jett and it would have to be a major conflict for me to miss her. Heart is a shell of its former self, but if no conflicts I'd probably go out of curiosity.
Randy Newman would be an interesting show that I'd check out if no conflicts.

The Rock and Roll HOF needs to slow down. Apparently they are running out of bands or something. Yet on top of all of that Warren Zevon isnt even nominated.

On the topic of thinking that Bonnaroo has a quota of things of like "Hall of Fame inductees" or "Super Bowl halftime performer", what is the percentage that Beyonce is at Bonnaroo this year? horn?

Wow. The Hall of Fame is really losing legitimacy in my eyes. Don't quite get how the committee can snub acts like Jethro Tull, Iron Maiden, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Warren Zevon year after year, yet Public Enemy and NWA are first ballot nominees.

I actually just saw Rush the other night at the Boston Garden and I hate saying it, but I was disappointed. The setlist was stubborn. The opener was subdivisions (always awesome) but they followed it with 2+ hours of newer material.
I'm usually ok with this except these guys are in their 60s and the new material is just plain cheese. It's bad.
I've seen them 3 other times before though, and those were some kick ass concerts. Everyone knows they're great musicians, but they also have a great sense of spectacle. It's definitely a unique live show.
If not, relatively more so considering how huge rap/hip hop has gotten in such a short period of time. Zevon is another case, though... he definitely should be in, especially considering how much people love to posthumously celebrate artists. Same applies to SRV, I guess.
If not, explain yourself. Because NWA and Public Enemy are just as big, important, revered and influential as all the people you named.
I agree they are just as big/influential as those groups. My problem is more with the fact that those artists I named have had 0 nominations, when some of them have been eligible for over 15 years, and they actually play Rock music. I agree NWA and PE belong there. I just think there are some acts that should have already been in or at least nominated before you give those groups a nomination the first year they're eligible. Just one man's opinion.

Please tell me this is a joke.

BECAUSE IT'S HIPPITY-HOP. THEY DON'T EVEN PLAY REAL INSTRUMENTS, THESE GUYS AREN'T MUSICIANS! THIS IS THE ROCK 'N' ROLL HALL OF FAME NOT THE ROCK THE MIC HALL OF FAME!

But how far down that rabbit hole do you want to go? If you logjam every new act on the basis that there are a lot of deserving older acts who should get their shot first (and I don't disagree that it's a crime a lot of these people have not been nominated. This is the first for both Rush and Deep Purple), then in a few years when they want to induct Radiohead, there'll be a bunch of people complaining that they can't because they haven't put in NWA or Nirvana (eligible next year and should be first ballot locks) yet.
I don't think NWA or PE will get in this year, but I'm glad they got nominated. The Hall is trying to right some wrongs this year by nominating a few first timers and old timers. If you made a list of 15 bands most worthy of inclusion, NWA at least would make most people's lists, certainly over Chic, The Marvelettes, Paul Butterfield, or Procol Harum, all of whom have more influential representatives of their genre already in. NWA and a couple of other bands were unique enough that they invented a new musical genre name for them. That gets them in under the "Alice Cooper rule" alone. Or should.
