Saw him at Firefly festival this summer for the first time and I was very surprised with how much I enjoyed his set. He performed with a full band which I think was a big part of it. But the set was a lot of fun, high energy.
Yeah I saw him at my local college a few years ago with this live band and it was terrible. He was equally as bad as B.O.B. Really one of the worst hip hop shows I've ever seen.
While I agree entirely about his recent studio releases, I still walked away having enjoyed his set. Maybe he was feeding off of the excitement from his cult crowd, but he definitely had everyone at the show moving.
Cant say I'd make a strong effort to see him at Roo though. Firefly didnt have many scheduling conflicts, and there was very little overlapping,
His first album was solid. Everything since then has been in the range of "absolute trash" to "maybe okay on a couple tracks." Yet he has one of the most bizarre cult followings I've ever seen, where people just seem to think he's still making interesting music.
The Cool was better than Food and Liquor in my opinion.

both of the albums were very good and its hard for me to choose one of the other. that being said lasers was pretty much garbage. food and liquor 2 isnt terrible, and is a step back in the right direction, but still comes nowhere near the first two. as far as his live show, i loved it in 2008 when he played, id prob end up at the set baring any absolutely major conflicts, however if it focused on mostly work from the two most recent albums, i most likely wouldnt stay long.
Lupe is like the crazy hot girlfriend you have in high school. At first you can't believe that something this good is actually happening at which point you grow up and realize she's insane and forget about her entirely, occasionally reminded whenever you see her post crazy nonsense on facebook.
Lasers is the equivalent to her getting really fat.
F&L II is the equivalent of said fat g/f losing weight, so she's hot in comparison to her recently-fat self, but still nothing like she was when she was the original and hot version of herself.

Right?
Yup. Stretch marks are forever.
Also Touch The Sky is the first time you see her from behind.
I will not defend Lasers. It was a piece of crap. I also see the "formerly really hot ex-girlfriend" analogy, but F&L 2 is not that bad. It has it's share of throw-away tracks, lame lines, and crazy conspiracy-theory b.s., but it also has some of that former hotness. I can still see the hot chick underneath that little extra baggage. I'd still hit it.
the last four post are not only pure gold, but pretty damn accurate. like i said, food and liquor 2 is a step back in the right direction, but still doesnt compare to the first two albums

Right?
So, Friend of the people and A Common Enemy are like when, after you break up, you discover that she was secretly a suicide girl, but NEVER looks that good in person.
