I've been on a Cotes du Rhone binge, as of late...I'm having d'Andezon right now. It's a cheapy (<$15)... Like a mouth full of river pebbles
Mouth full of river pebbles, huh? Girl, how did you know that's EXACTLY what I've been looking for? It's hard to get that kind of selling point from Wine Spectator.
Meanwhile, Mayo is thinking, "Dammit Dani sure knows how to describe a vino." .....Then I thought of the bottle (read: Gallon Ziploc) of port that was taken from us at Sasquatch that I never got to put in my mouth, while a 12-year-old puffed a massive blunt next to us. Stupid LiveNation Alcohol Cop Jerks.

I've been on a Cotes du Rhone binge, as of late, but I'm preparing myself for the amazeballness of MORGON season.
I'm having d'Andezon right now. It's a cheapy (<$15) CdR from my boy, Eric Solomon, but it is solid as a rock. Many of the basic CdRs are <$20 and magically delish. Syrah + grenache + delicious minerally soils = tingling goodness. Like a mouth full of river pebbles, dark berry jam and the most perfect piece of toast you've ever had... *bliss*
I see you're in Oregon. You might be happy to know that I've been plowing through Willamette Pinots since April like it's my job. They don't always have the bite I look for in big reds, but for drinking with cheese, or even in lieu of beer at a BBQ, or for just sitting outside with no food, I've found some excellent choices. Mostly from 08, but even the 09 and 10 don't need much aging to reach potential. My favorites have ranged from Adelsheim (several different 2008s), Penner Ash, and Lange's Dundee Hills to Four Graces and Argyle Reserve.
I'm sure living there - you could comment on these and/or offer some similar ones for me to try?
I do a lot of catering. This is a blend that has been getting universally rave reviews. Notes of rasbperry, butterscotch and oak. It runs $10-12. A real crowd-pleaser.
Chianti got a bad rap when I was growing up. It was the spoiled table wine in the wicker holder. It still is underrated in the US, but it's all I drink when I'm in Italy. I love it because it's often cheaper for an Italian import than an equivalent French import. And with Chianti the cheaper ones are often as good or better than the expensive one. Here's one we drank a bunch of last year:
I remember if you bought a case it was like $9 or $10 a bottle last year, but I'm sure there's still a deal for it somewhere.

ARRRRRRGGGGGGGG! That was such a travesty! My sweet delicious Port. Gone. I said, "C'mon, at least me have a sip." and what does she say? "Ha! Nope!" as she poured it out while looking me dead in the eyes.
There is a special place in hell for the security from Sasquatch. I think the ad said, "Do you like picking and choosing when to enforce rules?"
Thank my stars Wayne came along and brightened my day.
I need to post the video I made of the wine tastin' I did on the front porch of The Highland Inn after the Radiohead show in March in Atlanta for those who were present there was Bonnaroo Red and White served to a bunch of buzzed up board members. Anyone know how to post a video from Facebook onto here or can pull it off my account if they are technically proficient in such things? I will give you some Diddley Swag karma

Also, Dani. The Côtes du Rhône wines are my favorite. Someday I hope to make it to that area of France, maybe I can find some of the Cote family are in the wine business and will give me a job.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
