Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo in 2013!!
I think the real question everybody wants to know is what happens to post counts. I have way too many to start over
Already discussed between the mods, actually.
We decided for the people who care about their post count AND/OR their karma count that we would manually update it when the transition is made.
That kind of thing can't be automatic....so basically it would be a message/announcement to the board that "If you would like your posts/karma to carry over please blah blah blah here". Then we'd either start up a thread to request it or maybe set it up as "PM some mod" but either way...we know that some people want to maintain their reputations and we'll do our best to accommodate that.

First off, glad to see this was posted as it was. Good job Sean, very concise and straightforward.
Secondly, I tip my hat to Adam. I realize that he has much on his plate and it took a lot to step away like that. The fact that he saw the need for this just shows he cares as much as this place as he did when he envisioned it years ago. Much thx to you good sir for all that you have done.
Third, I never stopped thinking of ODB/Jay as a mod. I got the privilege to spend some quality time with him at this past Bonnaroo and he always has and always will be a class act. I truly think the decision to step away from moderating was his, as he too has a ton of things on his plate. I do think if he wants to do it again, it should be a given (thanks Katy Mae for bringing it up in the first place).
Finally, I thank all the mods up here for all the work they do. This is a TON more work than most realize and, despite what some may think, the mods have a life outside of here. They have jobs, responsibilities, and everyday tasks that have to be done as well. The fact that you guys do the stand up job that you do is a tribute to what Inforro has and hopefully always will be. I look forward to the new board and The Pondo Army totally supports the positive changes.
Music fuels us as we continue to conquer the battlefields of boredom and artistic freedom.
If it moves you, go with it. To waste that moment is a tragedy-The Pondo Army Movement

First off I want to thank those of you who want to see me back as a mod. It means a lot to me that there is love for me here on the board, You guys are my 2nd family and always have a place in my heart.
With that being said, I will just remain a member here on the board. There really wasn't hiding that me and Adam had a falling out and had different view points on how the board should be run. With him stepping down and the mod squad taking over the helm, I feel 100% confident the board will go in the direction that it needs to and for the right reasons. I do wish them the best of luck and have my full support.

Super excited about the changes!
However, it might be too early, but I guess I'll be the first to ask it.
How will this affect insider's leaks? Will there be a way we can verify insider when she comes back? It helped having an established account to prove against, but now we'll pretty much have to wait a year and hope trolls don't take advantage of this.

Ahhh very good question. No plan as of this moment but I will try to get in contact with insider and work something out. Maybe come up with a code word or some kind of plan. Great question, thanks for bringing it to my attention

Attention Inforoosters:
As the domain name inforoo.com changes hands there may be a slight interruption in the URL's forwarding to bonnaroo.proboards.com. During this time Inforoo will continue to be available via the bonnaroo.proboards.com URL. I will do my best to ensure the interruption is brief.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Does the change affect the way inforoo is picked up by the crawlers on the search engines in any way? If it does, it will take a while to rebuild the reputation inforoo has. This is another reason to try and transfer as many threads as possible if you can.

The registrar update shouldn't affect anything in terms of the search engines and crawlers.
I understand and appreciate your concerns regarding the site's rep.

Who cares?
None of these posts are essential. We'll make new ones. Lots and lots of new ones.

Most people that find us in search engines are new Bonnaroo members just searching blindly for info of Bonnaroo.
I don't know much about webmastering and meta tags and all that, but I think it's an interesting point to consider that a new board with a new site WILL probably have an effect on where we pop up in the search engines. Google and other engines are going to have to crawl and cache an entirely new website, regardless if the domain name is the same or different.
When I type "bonnaroo information" into Google, "http://bonnaroo.proboards.com" is the fourth hit (not inforoo.com). I think what WLV was getting at is the new site will no longer be at the top of the list when googled. Search engines spiders are an enigma I don't understand, but I thought websites only earned google credibility by the tracking of meta tags and how often people click on links that lead to that site (See: google bombing). That is my assumption, because I really don't know much about webmastering lol. So please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'f this assumption is correct, then I suggest we keep the proboards board interface preserved and archived, and when people visit it, it is clear that this is an archive of posts and the new site can be found _________. We should also migrate the "cream of the crop info threads" to the new board and keep them alive and active so new members can contribute and still ask questions. (Leo, Fawnmart, I'm looking at your threads.....)
Please ignore me im off based, but I just wanted to chime in my two cents. I'd hate to see this place lose it's traffic. After all, noobs make it fun.
Well, with a great moderation team I'm sure things will be great going forward. God, I've been wanting inforoo off of these terrible free forums for a long time so glad to hear it's happening!

Yes, that would be a good idea. In addition you can use redirects in the htaccess file to hard redirect current inforoo.com links to the new site so they don't disappear from the search engine rankings (I believe). Guessing Joel probably knows about these things though.
To Adam - thank you for all of your hard work and your vision. You are a brilliant guy with a great future. Please join us sometime at Roo and at Brunch.
To all the mods - you people are amazing. To keep up with a herd of wild animals such as ourselves - and to still maintain a sense of humor and be wonderfully likeable people, speaks volumes for how awesome you all are.
now here are my foolish questions: 1. will the new site have a smartphone interface? or, like proboards', will we just use our browser? 2. will it be easier to upload photos to the new site? I've always found it rather awkward to upload photos here...not impossible, just awkward and time consuming...but maybe that's just me. 3. Can we have a thread or place to list the threads that we want saved and migrated over? Like Leo's, or the "RV looking to party" (as for examples),...humorous and useful threads that should be preserved for perpetuity? 4. Can we do something so that we are easily located on a Google search by newbies? (that's how you all got stuck with me, after all)

Zen - I'm confused about #1. Don't you have a mobile app ProBoards interface? Or maybe there's only one for iPhones? It's not the best in the world but it works fine for reading new posts, posting, and searching.
I have an iphone and the proboards app has never worked for me. I can view posts but have never been able to post. However, I can use the browser and view proboards, and it works fine. Am I weird? Certainly a possibility.
