I have no idea what a regular men's cut goes for. I personally refuse pay over $20 for a person with a spray bottle of water and scissors. Which is why I now cut my own hair ;D

Don't feel guilty! I'm a dude and I pay a lot for my haircut. I skimp on a lot of things, but I love having my hair washed and conditioned, scalp massaged, cut and blow dried, product brushed through, and a cut that actually evens everything. Gossip with the Persian stylists and the henna artists is a free bonus.
One of my cousins has a setup in her parents basement. I get a trim once every six weeks or so.
Reading this thread makes me feel bad for giving her 10 bucks. Which isn't far off her normal price either. But we're in East BFE, so things are relatively cheap out here. Before my cousin, I was only paying about 12 and tipped a buck on top. I thought 16+1 at Supercuts was high.

A buck? Tipping your stylist is just like tipping your waiter, if you're satisfied with the service they give you, give them 15-25%. Think of it as leaving a single dollar on the table when you leave a restaurant, it's like a slap in the face.

If it wasn't obvious from point number 2, the shampoo comes after the cut for me...before the cut would definitely be weird and pointless. But yeah, scalp massages rule.

I have to say that I would have agreed with being anti-shampoo until I got one. Scalp massage plus not getting hair all over the damn place is the bee's knees.
Yeah, after the first time I decided to do the post cut wash about 3 years ago I was like "what the quack have I been doing with my life? I have been missing out!" Although, I used to not ever get haircuts for about an 8 year period of time when I was a poor long haired heathen in college...would just occasionally cut a bit off myself.

I never really went to the barber with my dad they just always said my dad had already paid. So I never even knew that tipping was customary until I was like 25.
The guy that cuts my hair in seoul gives me a nice styled haircut and washes my hair free of charge. all for 10,000 won (about $8.88). And you don't tip here. For anything. It's considered an insult.

Don't feel bad Bunny! I know lots of ladies that spend their money on their hair. But.... I'm not one of them. Most hair dressers just have no idea what to do with my mop.
My hair is gonna be wild and curly no matter what I do. When I dyed dark it in March and cut off about 4 inches, I asked Mayo what she thought of it, and she siad "honestly, your hair is just curly".
I'd rather take my money and spend it on things I like, such as food and concerts ;D

My wife is a hairstylist, so she cuts my hair for free. But she charges $45 for a Men's cut. I think that is insane and there is no reason a guy should spend over $20 for a cut.

I finally found someone who consistently cuts mine the way I like it, so I'm fine with paying a little extra at 30, especially considering I'm in the heart of a big city and she's hot and gives me a wash/scalp massage (complete with a cleavage show) both before and after.
Can't decide if I love it. Change is good.
