Bansheebeat, too bad for you that Charlie Strong is one of the names that comes up again and again for the UT and Arkansas jobs. As Scrog said, Strong is a Gator, but he is also an Arkansas native which might work in his favor in getting that job or at least might make him more interested in it.
Scrog, Gruden's career mark is 100-85. I agree that it would be nice to get someone who isn't going to have rumors about him quitting every year crop up until several seasons in rather than 20 minutes after he takes the job. Hart said about 50 times during the press conference that he wants someone with head coaching experience (and a record of winning), so I think we are more realistically looking at bringing a head coach up from a smaller school rather than an OC or DC from a larger school. Chavis is a big long shot because he has stated before that he is not really interested in being a head coach.
Did not know Chavis did not want to be a HC. He still should be considered. Just because someone does not have HC experience, he should not be taken off the list, but if that is what your AD wants, well good luck with that. What HC experience did Phil have before he took over many years ago. Maybe UT needs to work on replacing Hart. I see he came from Bama, you are right UT does have Bama envy.

Hart worked at FSU too if you needed more reason to dislike him. ;D
I think what Hart said about head coaching is to placate the fan base to a certain extent since one of the knocks on Dooley was that he did not have much experience as a head coach before he got the job here. Once again, I think some people around here are making too many blanket generalizations about who is and isn't a good candidate for the position. I don't really care where he has come from or how much experience he has or whatever. I just want somebody who is going to win. The guy who is apparently currently owning us in recruiting in-state had zero head coaching experience before getting the job at Vanderbilt.
Also, here is the headline on the town's main newspaper's website this morning. "Report: Gruden has Tennessee contract in hand; staff pay a holdup" Lord help us.
Edit: Sorry, Kiko, I quoted the wrong post (if you even saw it)
The Big East is like an old dog that's had its best days far behind it, and been in pain and suffering too long. Take it to the vet, get it temporarily better. Feed it some good food, but it won't do much in the end. Needs to be taken behind the woodshed, and then you mourn the loss and reflect the good times. Then you wake up to a new era and a new dog.
Or in this case, four 16 team superconferences.
Too bad the entire world doesn't revolve around college football, or else this might carry some weight.

Scrog, yeah, it's basically broken down to a bunch of reporters with "reliable sources" jockeying for position on who gets to be right. I have gotten to the point where I am not going to believe anything until UT says something.
Sang, I checked on ESPN.com. It says that FSU and GT are playing for the ACC title tomorrow, so in closing, suck it.

we still got a trophy.
So does everyone in T-Ball, what's your point. You lost to the team you tied with, so you shouldn't even have that trophy to begin with.
One report stated "unnamed sources reported..." and the other named the sources and quoted their tweets, but you are right, until UT says it officially, I would not believe a thing. Sang, for you and all in the ACC, I hope coach Strong stays at Louisville, I want to see what he can do. ;D

Just so you know, Jimmy Hyams is a sports talk host in Knoxville. There is something delicious about reporters quoting a statement another reporter said as proof for something.
Charlie strong and Louisville don't scare me. they'll be on par with nc st. they're going to slip up and beat us occasionally but mostly we will beat their ass.
CS will keep winning. He is a good coach. Players love him and he has deep roots in to the recruiting bed of South Florida. I agree Dave, he will not stay at Louisville for ever, but I would like to see him stay there for a few years and beat on Clemson and FSU, before he steps into the SEC.

I certainly hope Strong does stay for a while, but this is coming from a wishful U of L fan. I really think Louisville could run the ACC if strong does stay on board for a couple more years. So I guess I'm throwing my hat in the "sang can suck it ring"

Yup. I think Auburn will have difficulty finding a coach due to their potential NCAA investigation. It might also be worth noting that Strong is from Arkansas and did his undergrad at Central Arkansas.

Yup I officially given up on trying to follow the Gruden hoopla. The first "report" this morning said an unnamed source said Gruden had a contract in hand. 6 hours later...new unnamed source says not only did Gruden decline UT offer, but the earlier report about him having a contract was false. I don't know who to trust or if any of this is real. It seems to be all coming out of the Chattanooga paper, churning out a ton of stories on shaky grounds.

no offense
Louisville is a basketball school that currently has a decent football team. like I said they are the equivalent of nc st. or maybe unc is a better comparison. basketball school, most years decent in football, but unc did have a period where they were a top 10 football program and then drifted back to what they really are, mediocre.

As opposed to Clemson, which is a football school with mediocre football?

I'm not sure where they're coming from, but I've only posted in here and in the mafia thread recently. I've noticed my awesome points have been increasing. Whoever it is, please stop. I am currently the winner of negative awesome points game and do not want to lose this title. Thank you and good day sirs and mams.
