So everyone who is voting for MMJ appears to have seen them in the past 2-3 weeks.
False. I voted Radiohead after seeing MMJ 3 days ago - my 4th time on this tour alone! I'd traveled great distances to see them 3 of the 4 times. I'm an MMJ fan; I'm a member of their fan club & their board. I've been up close for shows and met many fellow fans. There's a great dynamic at play there: if you dive into MMJ fandom, you can really get immersed in the music experience. That's part of the fun. It's great seeing the same faces at the shows that I've seen in 4 different states this summer.
That said, I still chose Radiohead, even though I've only seen them twice, and to be honest, I really wasn't moved during their show on the Farm this year. Don't get me wrong: it was good but not even in the same galaxy as their ATL arena show in March. It's possible to love both bands for different reasons. One band stirs my heart, making me smile & dance while the other stirs my soul, making me think & feel.
Roo show was better. U would say the same thing if you had tripped for both
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
Patrick looks like he could go beast mode, one of those jolly big guys who can detach limbs from people's bodies if they push him to it. Thom doesn't count as a whole person for the sake of this hypothetical Celebrity Deathmatch.
^ TRUTH.
Patrick = sheer, hulking mass of arms & hair; he's a cartoon character come to life. Thom = straggly-haired ragamuffin; he's a stuffed doll come to life.

Easy there tiger That is kind of my point, I had a great time at MMJ totally sober. It also depends on the place you are at and who you are with. It's hard to compare the two. RH's set lists seem like they are taking you on a journey that each song is right where it should be as are the visuals. MMJ's show doesn't seem as put together as RH's and doesn't flow as well but scores points in enthusiasm and dancability. Lyric wise RH wins hands down, live shows though, I lean ever so slightly toward MMJ.

BULLSEYE! You NAILED IT, sister! This is exactly how I feel: who you're with, where you are & other things factor into how much you enjoy a show.
That's why I loved the Radiohead ATL show 10000x more: I was surrounded by friends who are fellow fans. If I'd been with y'all on the rail for their 'Roo set, I know I would've enjoyed it more. Conversely, I've only had a mildly crappy time at 1 MMJ show (last year @ Vandy), and I wasn't on the rail or with y'all then either. But being with so many of you who are real fans in the pit @ Forecastle made up for it. Who you're with makes ALL the difference.
It's funny: I was thinking about MMJ shows this morning while driving to work & I realized I've been (mostly) sober for their shows & enjoyed the hell out of every minute. MMJ is just good ol' rock & roll music, no additives or preservatives required. I lean towards their live shows, too, for this reason. But lyrically & musically, it's always Radiohead for me.
I just don't identify with Radiohead at all. I have been to one show (Roo this year, one off the rail right up front). I totally "got" the show - it was an amazing sight and the music was fantastic. I think the band is incredible, I really wish I liked it.
I've never seen MMJ. I totally missed their show in '11 on the farm for no good reason. (thats another story) I have, however, watched a few live feeds of theirs. Most recently, the Forecastle show. You can only gather so much from that, I realize, but even watching the feed I got a feel for what it probably would be like being there.
I have to vote for MMJ because I got sucked into their shows watching them streamed more than I did Radiohead's show and I was in the 2nd row. I actually left the pit with about 45 minutes to go because I just wasn't into it.
I knew I could count on NoAge for some Radiohead <3.
OK, here's where the choice becomes MUY IMPOSIBLE:
If I knew I'd see/hear my favorite Radiohead songs (All I Need; Everything in Its Right Place; Exit Music; Give Up the Ghost; Karma Police; Knives Out; Let Down; Lucky; Optimistic; Paranoid Android; There, There; Staircase; Street Spirit; The Tourist; Where I End & You Begin) in 1 show but I'd have to skip seeing/hearing my favorite MMJ songs (Cobra; Dondante; Evil Urges; Gideon; Golden; Highly Suspicious; I'm Amazed; It Beats 4 U; Knot Comes Loose; Mahgeetah; Movin' Away; Touch Me, Pt 2; Wordless Chorus) being performed at the same time, hmmm...
Damn. Tough call...still Radiohead, since I see them less often. But lordhavemercy, what a choice to make!

LOL, Thom Yorke and dancing really don't go together: more like spastic convulsions.
And this is a joke, so don't get all worked up please, but for years I've thought that Thom looks like what I envison if Forrest Gump took acid and "danced." I'm sure plenty of people are gonna hate me for saying that but c'mon, it's kinda funny!
Based on the comments I've seen and my own struggle to answer this poll, I almost think the more interesting question is "was this a no brainer for one side or the other - and if so, which side?" versus "did you have to really think about this one before you made a choice?"

I voted for MMJ immediately without having to think about it.
