They just announced a show in Atlanta on October 9th with Cloud Nothings and Atlas Sound.
I've been wanting to see SSPU for a few years now, but they've barely sniffed ATL since playing here a lot starting out. I've never seen or heard much about them live.
How are they live? Has anyone seen them since their new stuff? Normally I wouldn't bat an eye, but with a $40 price tag about about 15 other shows I want to see over the next few months, I'm a little curious. I also expect them to be on the festival circuit next year.

I would pay $40 to see those openers. Pickups were pretty good the couple times I've caught em, but I've always thought of them as Smashing Pumpkins-lite. Even the S.P. initials apply to this theory.

I have seen them eight, nine, or ten times (how can one remember with so many shows?) and I would say they are easily worth 40$ USD. Just my opinion.
I think their initials are SSPU, not 'SP', moreover, I have seen both SSPU and SP and they are completely different shows and plain simply different music. I don't have special sensitive ears that help me distinguish difference(s).
I'm excited to see them for the first time at Voodoo. I kinda blew them off until this year, but after listening to some of their stuff, I kinda dig them and can imagine them being pretty great live.

I love SSPU (which how the band always abbreviated their name), but Cloud Nothings are totally going to steal the show night after night. If I can make it, I'm so going.
I saw them last month and thought they were fantastic. I actually think their new album is very good and seeing them again with Cloud Nothings would be a great show.
They've been one of my favorite bands for years and I've only been lucky enough to see them once (opening for Muse in Nashville). I would be all over this if it wasn't during the week. Driving back from ATL after would suck. I learned my lesson after driving back from seeing Pixies in Knoxville on a weeknight. Never again.
