Forget Blue Valentine, this is probably the single saddest movie I've ever seen. So many scenes that left me breathless, but as in several of Haneke's films, there is beauty in even the most grim corners of our psyches and experiences. Such a moving film.
I need to amend my top films of 2012 list, because this is undoubtedly at the top.

Watched This Is England yesterday, one of the best films I've seen lately (in addition to Beginners.) Also watched The Imposter last night, which has its flaws, but is easily one of the most unnerving films I've ever seen.
I've been thinking about watching this... how is it?
Honestly, I was dead tired from a long week and had to turn it off 30 minutes into it. I can't wait to watch it later. It was very intriguing seeing him go about the process of getting Psycho into production and hearing him turn down offers to do the likes of The Diary Of Anne Frank and Casino Royale with Cary Grant as 007. It looks like another fantastic performance by Hopkins. Can't wait to see what Biel and Scarlett bring to the film.
I watched this the other night, not having seen it in at least 20 years. What a nostalgia trip.
I've seen it within the last 5 years and I think the movie really stands up well, and it's kind of sad it isn't as much of a family staple as it once was. On the other side of the spectrum, have you seen the sequels? The second was really bad, but the third is something else... Jack Black as a high school bully and Rock Biter (is that the name?) singing Steppenwolf while riding a stone motorcycle. That thing has to be seen to be believed.

^^^I did see the second, and wept. Even at 14 or however old I was, I could tell it was a stinker. Never saw the third, because all accounts are that it's even worse. But... are you saying it's "Troll 2" and "Birdemic" bad?

No, it's not quite on that level... I don't think it's really necessarily worth seeing, as a whole, but this movie has more than its share of moments. It's at least twice as bad as the second one. At least the second one was sort of similar in tone to the first, there is a sense of continuity... this is totally different in tone, having more in common with that old ABC sitcom The Dinosaurs than anything related to the preceding two movies.
