Is it due to work? When I was relocated to this office I just butted heads with my boss until he relinquished control of the office stereo to me. Goodbye Hoobastank, hellooooo good music.
Not so much....more to do with being busy with random things and over time altering the way I listen to music. I need to go back to just enjoying it. For a while I was listening to music like homework and studying up on the songs by bands I'd be seeing live soon. I need more discovery and to change that up.
Some new Frank Ocean could help with that. But in general I need to refresh my music listening.
Hah, sounds like you turned listening to music into work. FO's new album is the opposite of work. It's a Caribbean vacation or something, just for your ears.
I read something on twitter that the album sounds like God's air conditioning.
Was it intended as a compliment? Air conditioners are just white noise in most cases, so is the addition of God to the equation means it's a heavenly white noise?
I thought you guys didn't usually find Jess's form of humor/trolling to be fun. But if you want to respond and find it to be fun then I would expect more in the future. Use the thumbs down and just move on with the actual discussion....it'll be more fun that way (for me, anyway).
I was hoping we could just keep talking about Frank Ocean lol
At least you admit it's trolling.
I saw in Now Playing that someone thought this album was too ballad-y. I dunno, this is exactly what I was hoping for from Ocean on his next album.
And the fact that Ocean has to try and get big while putting out quality stuff like this while Drake whines his way to pop music glory is just mind numbing to me.
Actually the joke was referring to a conversation last week in random thoughts when he came out of the closet. Thats ok though little flanzie I will leave your precious thread alone now.

"Joke" in the absolute lightest and least specific definition of the word.
ITM, I found this album was great for doing stuff around the house yesterday. I did a load of laundry, cooked dinner and watched some of the All-Star game listening to it. It was the most productive I had been after work in like a month or something.

Well I have some stuff to do around the house anyway (I procrastinated like a bitch yesterday...also Inforoo going down sidelined me for like an hour). Will try to check it out while doing some much needed cleaning.

I really don't mean this as a criticism of the album, just curious: do you think any songs on Channel Orange are better than Swim Good. Would like to get a sense for people's taste on this.
I have tickets to his Lolla after show at Metro. Been a very long time since I've been this excited for a show.
Also, Channel Orange is the first album I ever bought on itunes, and my first itunes purchase whatsoever in years (I usually buy full albums on vinyl and singles on Amazon)

I need to sit down and listen to this again all at one time. I had to break it up for meetings etc at work. I think it made me miss how good this follow up really is. It doesnt seem as catchy as Nostalgia Ultra. That might not be a bad thing.

I'm really regretting not getting tickets to this now. I might try to check the secondary market as it gets closer. At least I can still see him Saturday night at the fest. It's The Metro, right?

Metro Friday, Lolla Saturday. He's up against Santigold, RHCP and Avicii.
I was planning on flying in Friday night and doing the day pass for Lolla Saturday. Once I got the FO tickets I paid the fees to move my flight to Thursday so I could be extra sure I didn't get boned by one of Chicago's famous "all flights are cancelled" afternoon thunderstorms. A little ridiculous on my part, especially considering I could have just seen him in DC, but I'm banking on the Metro show being extra-special.
Just looked it up and Frank Ocean is performing at Terminal 5 on July 26. Raekwon/Tyler The Creator/Earl are performing at Best Buy Theater on July 26.

F*CK!
Ouch. Both of those shows are probably going to be a great time.

Yeah, already got tix to the Raekwon/Tyler/Earl show, so that's where I'm going. I've wanted to see Earl for years, so that wins.
I cannot believe how Pyramids doesn't drag. Generally when anyone not in the post-rock genre puts out a track in the 10 minute neighborhood it can be painfully boring. Pyramids is probably my favourite track of the album though, shows me for having preconceptions.
wow... 9.5 is high. That number really doesn't surprise me after listening to the album a few times. It is really good and I don't think there is a bad track on it. His songwriting is superior to others in his genre and the production was done really well.
