I saw them at Orlando Calling as well. They did sound great, and put on a great show, but when I think of other potential Friday HL'ers, they go near the bottom of my list. I would much rather have someone I haven't seen like Muse or Foo Fighters. I would also be really happy with Green Day or Coldplay, even though I've seen each (if they could somehow pull off the Xylobands at Roo, it would be one of THE most magical Roo moments in history). You could do much worse than The Killers though. Worse case scenario for me, they do get picked, I get to hear some new songs, and I have good reason to leave their set early if I wanna get a good spot for a LN set afterwards.
I kept waiting for the punchline to this thread, but it never came. Not being the worst band out there is not a valid reason to let them headline Roo. Why not get Franz Ferdinand and Jet too?

I like Franz Ferdinand even more than the Killers. ;D
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver

You're seriously lumping in Franz Ferdinand with Jet? Pretty offensive....

And I'm not trying to shame anyone for their tastes here. I'm just playing devil's advocate to all the gushing going on. To me, they're nothing interesting, radio rock in the vein of Coldplay, KOL, Kaiser Chiefs, The Bravery, with a decent album or two 8 years ago. Thanks, but no thanks.

Obviously, I am not the person out there selecting the lineup. They are not catering to my tastes specifically, or to anyone else on this board. Since they will try to likely pick a band that appeals to a lot of people, THAT is why The Killers are a valid choice. And it just so happens that they aren't a bad pick, based on some of the reactions here.
And even though you were just being facetious, probably not the best two bands to pick. Jet broke up, as said before, and Franz would be an INCREDIBLE headliner for me! Even though it would never, ever, ever happen (people don't know how awesome they are beyond Take Me Out).
But that's all besides the point. I would still rather not have them.
Eh it's nothing spectacular but I like it. I am imagining that the vast majority of you guys have never given the album Sam's Town a straight through listen. It's probably their least popular album, but my favorite. I think most of you would be surprised by it, but I also think none of you will actually give it a spin sadly. It's on spotify and you can change it to a private session if you are worried about what your friends will think.

Weren't you talking about how The Beatles were overrated the other day?
And now you want me to listen to The Killers...
I don't believe I can take you seriously anymore, sir.
Yes I did say The Beatles were overrated. I know they were highly innovative, but I don't think they are the greatest band ever. I love them and their music, but the greatest band ever. I also said I like the Stones more.
