I've read the sticky covering important dates but it did not cover what I was interested in. When they released the initial lineup for 2012 were the acts a big surprise or were the rumours mostly correct?
We already knew 70% of the lineup, which dropped on Feb 14th, due to insider giving us the headliners, and members finding out acts via the twitter/fb/email bands thread.
Didn't wanna start a new thread for a question I know both know the answer too.... What is the "Pit"? I keep hearing people say "Saw Avett bro's from the pit".... Does it cost extra?

June 13-16 would be GREAT for me. Resolves one huge annual conflict that delays my trip and causes me to miss the first night every time. But next year's dates aren't official yet.

Being a week later lessens the odds of cooler weather like we had this year. But we lucked into a once-a-decade deal, and while it was incredible in the shade, the sun was still hot. Bonnaroo weather is what it is, and a week isn't going to change that. (Coming from Texas, I see it as a temperature break regardless.)
I don't know if separating from CMA will help with the lineup because it's two almost totally separate audiences. But it might help with extra vendors and food trucks, and also might avoid some major conflicts with other festivals (although it might create others). It'll help Nashville traffic to be sure.

The article states that Nashville is at capacity in terms of the airport and area hotels. From a business standpoint, having the festivals on two different weekends would allow local businesses and the airport to operate at full capacity for both festivals, thereby increasing the economic impact here.
I really hate the idea of bumping it back a week. The first few weeks of June can literally have a 20 degree difference. Mid June typically in Middle Tennessee is when it goes from being comfortable to unbearably hot.

I was thinking about that today. This past weekend was hot and the end of this week has temperatures projected in the triple digits.
I think Jess said something about CMA being a different weekend from Roo next year but I may have made that up.
No I remember readin' that here and in some article as well. It's fine and good if they want to maximize profits between the two festivals, I have no qualm with that. But the dates mentioned in the article move 'Roo back a week. I was just curious why maybe CMA couldn't be held later and 'Roo earlier.
