Dearest beautiful people of Inforoo! I got back home from Roo a week ago and have been job hunting like a mofo ever since, so please forgive my late response. I was generously donated two tickets at $50 a piece from QSAROO so my little brother and I could attend our 6th Bonnaroo in a row. We had the most AMAZING time!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I have many things to say about my experience, but I'm utterly exhausted right now after just working a physically intense 14 hour shift on 1 hour of sleep. So basically I'm really delirious writing, please excuse my grammar.
My Bonnaroo 2012 story:
I rode to Tennessee with two guys I found on a ride-share site. When we arrived in Manchester we spent time in the near by woods and I ran into three people from from Occupy DC (I'm from OWS and spent time at ODC). I went to Walmart and ran into three special people from past Roos in less than an hour, moments after picking up my tickets from the lovely people of QSAROO!! I caravaned & camped with my younger brother & friends from our first Roo six years ago. I met this girl Molly I had been hearing so many great things about but it turned out that she made me really, really depressed instead during Radiohead's set. During the show I kept thinking about war and consumption and all the energy used during the festival, so many other things. I got super depressed about the World's current state, which I think about often because I'm an activist, BUT I smacked myself out of it on Saturday.
I got in the pit/front row for all of the Chili Peppers set because I helped security when a massive rush of people jumped the fence for the pit and nearly trampled people to death. Security escorted me to the pit after that. After the show I met this nice guy who helped me get backstage. I've been blessed to be backstage the past four years, (because of other random acts of craziness) it felt like home. During the Superjam I got upgraded to all-access because I used to work for the Roots and Prince's saxophone player (& from the jam) gave me his pass It took my six years but I FINALLY got to be ON the main side stage for Bon Iver & Phish, & I briefly encountered Trey backstage.
During the downpour post-Phish I met a handsome bearded fellow while we were both running in the rain (so romantical), ate some no no words that rhymes with brooms, and danced naked in the rain in GA camping. We wanted to start a naked parade and got another guy to join us. Bearded fellow and I really got crazy and screwed in Centeroo by a tree between the comedy tent and the cinema tent at 4am in the morning (we were allowed in Centeroo Sunday night because we both had all-access passes) We got yelled at by security. No big deal.
I spent all day Monday passing out abandoned vendor ice left to melt, to the volunteers and staff members. All day on a golf cart. In the pouring rain. Not because someone asked me to, but because this is a tradition I've done, this was my third year doing this. Borrowing a golf cart and rescuing ice that's being wasted and giving it to people who totally deserve it. It's my own way I contribute to the tribe.
Because of that, I was offered a job to work Roo next year by the Golf Cart crew (!) I attended the private staff party Monday night, with previously mentioned bearded fellow, while all the campers were gone & on Tuesday night he gave me a ride to Knoxville where I spent some time roaming the fine city that gave birth to AC Entertainment, which in turn gave birth to Roo. Thursday I took the long bus ride home to NYC, & have been looking for work since. I ended up getting hired to work Governor's Ball in NYC because of a connection I made at Roo, and might even be working Electric Forest.
I turned a four day festival into an eleven day adventure and several job opportunities and it's ALL BECAUSE OF QSAROO and I am SO thankful! I already know how I'm going to return the love. JUST YOU WAIT! But for now, I must work my ass off to pay some bills.
Gotta go to bed, only had 1 hour of sleep last night and worked 14 hours at Gov Ball today and I leave for work in four hours. Exhausted. WORDS CAN NOT DESCRIBE HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU! THE LOVE WILL BE RETURNED A BILLION FOLD. WITH OUR POWERS COMBINED~~~~~~~
ps- Don't think the trip was all fine and dandy. I lost a very sentimental collection of 22 (!!!) gemstones and crystals I've been collecting since I was 14 I left it in a patch of grass to charge in the full moon sun, in a Target parking lot outside of Manchester I also got a massive speeding ticket (waiting to hear how much), which will more than likely be the cost of a full-cost ticket, so technically I paid full price, it might end up being way more. And was it worth it? HELL YES!

There is no exaggeration when I say this was my BEST BONNAROO EVER!
I woke up at an insanely early hour to board a plane to the happiest place on earth (Disneyland has nothing on bonnaroo!) and spent the entire ride giddy with excitement, telling the married couple next to me ALL about bonnaroo. The shuttle ride was spent talking to a very nice lady named Lisa from Colorado who was doing roo solo, unfortunately I didn't see Lisa again, but I did appreciate her bravery to come to the fest on her own. I did the same for my first bonnaroo. Although you never really are alone once you meet other inforoosters
Phi was my first point of contact on the farm! He hailed us a festicab and we were whisked away to our campsite (at a great speed!) where I had the pleasure of camping with abra, maynardave, miked, popsiclesarah, tacobandit (jade), and Al. It was a lovely setup and I was so incredibly grateful to be in my happy place again, with such welcoming campmates. To kick off the festivities, with some encouragement from Phi, I rode the ferris wheel for the first time since my first roo in 06. It was a little scary and creeky but it was a great way to start the fest!
The weekend was a beautiful blur jam packed with lots of tulle, wonderful music, and even better people. It was almost too much to take in!
I have been around these parts for a good while now, and I consider many of you great friends, and the rest of you friends I have yet to meet Inforoo is a special place for me, and the love continues to grow each and every day. I lost my job in February, just when all of the roo planning was ramping up and my heart hurt knowing that bonnaroo was one of the things I was going to have to forego to cut back on expenses. To miss out on seeing all the friends I only see once a year. To miss my favorite band in the whole world, the one who brought me to roo in the first place, returning to the farm. My heart hurt. And then that hurt was replaced by an abundance of happiness, a few tears, and the deepest gratitude when I was contacted by QSAROO to let me know they would be helping me.
Here are some more photos, as my words fall short when describing this much contentment:
Thank you QSAROO for making all of these (and many more) smiles possible.
