I don't know why, but I don't like rooting for Italy even though I'm Italian. It probably is a direct result of the greasy, seedy d-bags that go ape sh*t for them in NY/NJ for any Euro or World Cup. It's kind of sh*tty rocking a Meazza jersey (greatest Italian player ever) and having some form-fitting tank-top-wearing juice head as me when Meazza is going to play, while walking away with a custom-made Italian jersey with his Americanized name on the back of it.
God, I hate f*cking guidos.
Too bad Ireland is in a group that it has a negative chance of winning, otherwise I'd be all in on them.

Hey awatd, I know this isn't the soccer thread, but I'm making it that.
Pep Guardiola? Eh? What say you?
lol not happening. I think he's taking the year off for sure, but it woudln't happen anyway. Obviously that would be the greatest thing ever if it happened.
So this Italian team is horribly unlikeable outside of Pirlo and Di Natale. But I quacking love Pirlo.
i haven't gotten into euro 2012 as much as I had hoped that i would.. maybe its because I've worked or been busy during just about every damn match. I would have rooted for ireland if they didn't suck balls. I would currently root for england if they didnt always cave in the big games (but that sweden game was nice). And the netherlands, who was my real choice before the tournament started, said fuck it early.
SO, based on the teams remaining, I want Germany to beat Greece but only because i don't like Greece. I would prefer to watch Portugal over Czechs, so go Portugal. Do not like Spain or Italy, so go France and England. SIGH.. go England?
I'm pleased to see England saved their donkeys (for the time being) following that own goal.
For footy fans on here, which league clubs do you support? I'm a Liverpool fan myself
I'm an avid follower of the Premier League. It's tough for me to call myself a supporter of one specific club though. Any feelings of connection I have with a club team are entirely superficial compared to the local supporters. In American sports terms, it feels like fervently supporting a college team in which I did not attend.
I really enjoy watching the game played the "right" way, so for me Swansea were an absolute gem this past season. I also love what Alan Pardew has done with Newcastle

Swansea are <3, but stupid Rodgers is going to take stupid Sigurdsson to stupid Liverpool I think. He was one of my favorite Swans during the second half.
Yeah, Spain is playing the runner up from Group D (almost definitely Ukraine/England, if France beats Sweden they win Group D) and then the winner of Spain's game plays the winner of Czech/Portugal.
I'm rooting for Spain/Portugal and Italy/Germany (since I doubt they'll lose to Greece) semi's.

Croatia were better than Spain, and Italy were probably even with Spain. I can't wait for those assholes to get knocked out. Portugal will do it. I believe.

At the past two major tournaments Spain has gotten stronger as they have went on. In the Euro 2008 group stage they needed a last minute goal to beat Sweden and were losing to Greece in the first half of their game. At WC 2010, they lost to Switzerland! in the group stage. In both tourneys, they rebounded by grinding out results in the knockout stages. I am by no means a Spain fan, but I fully expect them to reach a third consecutive major tournament final.

They also lost to the US at the Confederations Cup....(I realize it was a scaled-down roster, but still, Team USA is like the short bus squad).
