Temper Trap killed it, they had such a huge sound and I thought they couldn't have pulled off the main stage but I didn't want their set to end.
Santigold is the enhanced version of Nikki Manaj that actually makes fun music and not radio teen super pop. When she had everyone on the stage it looked so sick and everyone looked like they were having the time of their lives. Thats what Bonnaroo is all about and I'm sure for all those people that was the highlight of their trip.
The security guard taking down the guy that tried to attacked Santigold was awesome.
Agreed, on both of those shows. Temper Trap didn't really surprise me, as I was expecting them to be really good. And they sure were.
Santigold was waaaaaaaay better than I expected, though. That crap-ton of folks dancin' on stage with her is something I'll not soon forget.
Fruit Bats were a great, out-of-the-blue surprise to me.

Adding Orgone to my surprise list as well. Danced for an hour straight. Funky.
Beach Boys surprised me in a good way. I wasn't expecting much at all after seeing their performance at the Grammy awards this year. I thought that was just embarrassing. They put on a damn good show though... especially the last five or so songs. I'm very glad I made that show. Ben Folds Five as well. I don't really know any of their stuff, but he was really having a good time on stage and put on a good show.
1) Michael Kiwanuka - Had heard the CD and enjoyed it a lot, but was going to see the Kooks because some friends wanted to. When we got sepearted in the clusterfuck that was the line getting into Centeroo me and my girl walked up to the That Tent for Michael Kiwanuka instead and there was a really small crowd there for what would turn out to be an amazing set. His backing band is pure fire and he has an amazing voice.. musical healing for sure
2) Dawes - I was excited for Hey Rosetta's Sonic Stage set and decided to catch Dawes before hand and was pretty blown away!
3) Bon Iver - My friends are all obsessed with Bon Iver and I've always never understood the hype, but was floored by how good his live show was. The music really made much more sense in a live setting

Alice Cooper - I hadn't heard anything from him in a while so I kind of assumed it would be a kind of sad, old, Alice Cooper failing to reproduce his glory days, but it was really awesome.
St Vincent - I really liked her stuff on record, but it blew me away live.
RHCP - I had heard mixed reviews of their live show lately and I'd seen them on some tv special not too long ago and wasn't impressed, so I didn't really expect much. It ended up being maybe my favorite show this year.
Sharon Jones - Same as St. Vincent, it was really good.
I'm glad to hear everybody loved the Alice Cooper show! I missed him at Bonnaroo, but I was totally surprised in a good way when I saw him about 7 years or so ago. Somebody gave me tickets to his show, and I wasn't expecting much. Boy was I wrong. He puts on a hell of a show!

-Beach Boys, basically what everyone else has already said. Too much fun! -Ben Howard had incredible energy that I was not expecting. -Phish, just blew me away. -Colin Hay, knew maybe one song going in but really enjoyed the whole set at the Sonic Stage.

This times a million. I have seen a ton of Ben Howard's live performances on YouTube since I am practically obsessed with him now, but the energy of the band and the energy of the crowd were phenomenal. Easily second best show of the weekend for me (Radiohead being first, but they are my favorite band). As soon as I got home from Roo I went online to buy tickets to see him out in Hollywood. So excited.

Big Freedia - was so wiped by the time 3am rolled around Friday night/Saturday morning, i headed back to camp. So glad I got a second wind and decided to wander back into centeroo just in time to catch this. $hit was by far my favorite set of the weekend. Was kinda bummed that it only lasted 30-45 mins. After returning home, I jumped on Big Freedia's website to check out tour dates. Wouldn't ya know it, Big Freedia was performing in my town the Friday night following bonnaroo. To top it all of, it was a FREE show!!

Ben Howard was the biggest suprise for me. A friend recommended me Him so I went not knowing what to expect but he absolutely killed it live! I was so impressed that I bought his CD and got him to sign it for me.

Infamous Stringdusters, Childish Gambino, fun. and Grouplove, all killed it and I was definitely pleasantly surprised, I loved the energy and am excited to see these bands flourish in the future. Loved Trampled by Turtles and Flogging Molly as well, although all the FM shows I have been to have been great, so they lived up to expectations.

Ben Howard exceeded all expectations. I was recommended him by a friend who couldn't make it and he ended up putting on an extremely high energy show and was very nice when I got his signature.
First off, I have to say it again... Moon Taxi... Their album is nothing like their live show. I was definitely riding the Moon Taxi after that show. Kept telling my friends about Moon Taxi and was completely mind-blowing and convinced them to catch their show at Lolla and they were not disappointed. The dude on the keyboard is completely unbelievable.
I don't think I saw anyone say this, but The Joy Formidable. They went so freaking hard! That jam they did at the end to Whirring was just... wow. I couldn't believe what I was seeing/hearing.
The Roots were so amazing. I had heard their live albums and listened to the studio albums and was just like... ehh... not really my thing. But their live show... between the tuba solo and the cover of Sweet Child of Mine... I was instantly Rooted.
The show that I stumbled upon and had not even heard of the band that completely amazed me was Art Vs. Science. I saw their set at the Sonic Stage and I felt like I had known their music all my life. Such a fun and interactive show they put on. Not to mention one of the members did a guitar solo while chugging a beer! Sold.

Moon Taxi: I had listened to their album and really enjoyed it, but their Thursday set was one of my favorite of the weekend. This year was my first Bonnaroo, and their show was the first I saw after the sun went down, and the energy in the crowd during the show was amazing. Gave me that sappy "so this is what Bonnaroo is all about, huh?" feel. Saw them again a few weeks ago, and they're still amazing.
Art vs. Science: I'd heard a fair amount of their music before catching their Sonic Stage set, and was looking forward to it. But they flat out entertain. Then their miller lite set later that night was completely crazy and entertaining. Literally had members of the crowd climbing poles to get a better view.
