Were you in the pit with us skillet? That would have put that over the top.[/quote]
no i was back behind the pit just in front of the sound board, I did get to shake his hand when he came down at the end though!!! Cooper barely edged him out for my top spot by a hair.
I got lucky. He was salivating over my Beach House shirt.
Maybe it wasn't him. All I know is he said he would be next to the soundboard wearing a Cubs hat. I saw a dude that I figured was him, and was like "NoDepression?" Dude looked at me, looked me up and down, and was like "uh, no." I have no idea what NoD looks like, but this guy looked like he'd collect vinyl records of various bleep-bloopy musicians, so I figured I had a hit.
Two options: either NoD looked me up and down and decided that whoever I was, I was not hipster enough to chill with, or that wasn't NoD and I just weirded out some poor random guy.
NoD was indeed next to the soundboard during Battles. He was also wearing a Cubs hat. This is all fact. I guess he's just not that into you.
We ran into a ton of Inforoo people at Das Racist/Battles.

Are you the guy with the jelly fish suit during skrillex
No, I wish. Sounds awesome. That jellyfish flag pole with the jellyfish babies was awesome too.
I had two glow sticks though. You probably saw me. ;D
That was Scrog from the boards. He also had it at Radiohead and Phish. Their was a group of Inforooers with Jelly fish of some kind standing close to water station on the right of That stage during Phish.

Damnit reading these make me so upset that a.) I accidentally slept through the SuperJam and b.) I didn't chill with some of you homies. NoD, Bacon, Airline, GL, I wanna meet up with you fools next year. I wish I would have seen that post about NoD waiting at the soundboard for Battles because I was actually waiting there for a girl too. We must have been so close to each other!
1) St. Vincent 2) Bon Iver 3) SuperJam 4) Radiohead 5) The Antlers
Honorable Mentions: The Roots, Sharon Jones, Cherub
It has been said many times before, but there's no better verb for what Annie does than shred. Radiohead was a little lackluster because I saw them on the Sunday prior, but hearing Idioteque and Arpeggi was great. Cherub was some of the most fun I had all weekend. Probably my favourite Bonnaroo top to bottom of my four.
I didn't really see enough music to make a list. I didn't stay for sunday, and spent most of the day Friday and Saturday at camp. Was also too tired for late nights. I guess I'm getting old. I will say though that
Orgone Mariachi El Bronx Rodrigo y Gabriela were the sh!t
I enjoyed Radiohead a lot, and was impressed with their visuals, but left after Karma Police, so I can't give a rating on the entire set.
Also liked SBTRKT, but was not as impressed with their live performance as I was expecting.
1. The weather 2. Drinks at the Inforoo brunch 3. Getting to ask the lead singer of Art vs Science if he would like one of my cinnamon buns. 4. Creating a cream-corn monument at the VIP dinner. 5. Rail at Mogwai (THE LOUDEST BAND ALIVE!)
Honorable mention-asking everyone at brunch if they were Juggs.

I don't remember anyone coming up during Battles and saying anything, we were just to the left of the soundboard.

1. Radiohead - just saw them 3 months ago and this set was better. The only thing that could have improved the set was Street Spirit. Other than that, it was perfect and may have been the best show I have ever seen.
2. Superjam - what a treat this show was. I am so happy I let RHCP before the encore started to get a good spot. Absolutely amazing.
3. Flying Lotus - this was a pleasant surprise. He absolutely killed it and I danced my ass off.
4. Gary Clark Jr. - I barely made it to the set but I am glad I did. He was everything that everyone said he would be and more.
5. Rodrigo y Gabriela - I wish I would have seen the whole set instead of just half. I will definitely be checking them out anytime they come to KC.
Honorable Mentions -
Major Lazer - perfect act to catch after the high of Radiohead
Yelawolf - not a show I expected to see or like if I did but he was on point and knows how to put on a show. Gets my award for best surprise of the weekend.
Santigold - she sounded so good I thought she might have been lip syncing but she really was on point and has the voice he albums reflect. Very impressive
Fun. - they know how to put on a show. I'll be catching them when they come to KC in September
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

My Gut Reactions... 1. Superjam (Mind=Blown) 2. Bad Brains 3. The Roots 4. Bon Iver 5. Avett Brothers
Honorable Mentions: The Beach Boys (Great feeling set. Didn't realize how many classic songs they had), Dispatch (Another awesome sing a long show), RHCP, Rodrigo y Gabriela (talk about a dance party), Alabama Shakes, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Gary Clark Jr.
Regrets: Not staying awake for Black Star, Missing the Lionel Richie appearance
Overall an awesome experience. Increased my respect for Questlove and the legendary Roots crew so much.

I don't remember anyone coming up during Battles and saying anything, we were just to the left of the soundboard.
I can also confirm this. We were sitting on the viewing platform and CKS goes "Oh hey there's NoD!" So I immediately grabbed a rocket balloon and shot it at his face. Very Phi like introduction.
Top 5: 1. Radiohead 2. Skrillex 3. The Beach Boys 4. Major Lazer 5. Bon Iver
Gary Clark, Jr The Devil Makes Three The Temper Trap Avett Bros Grouplove
Really liked the Chappo set in Cafe Where. Too bad there were so few to see it. Think those guys have a lot potential. Gary Clark is my favorite live act right now.
Also, if you haven't been to a Sonic Stage set, you're missing out. I think it is WAAAY underrated. Camped out there most of the day Saturday. Huge regrets on having to miss Joy Formidable and fun.
Bonnaroo delivered as always. Will be back for #9 next year. Really digging Hangout Fest leading into Roo.

1. Skrillex - Like him or not, the energy at the show was unbelievable. The crowd was a massive party, and his sound/light show/stage setup were perfect (can't believe he had a spaceship onstage!). Combined with the light rain near the end and this was a hell of an awesome LN set. I had the most pure fun at this show.
2. Phish - I had big hopes for Phish. They have a such a huge reputation because of their live shows, and they were the only of the top 3 I hadn't seen already. Needless to say, they did NOT disappoint! Best light show I've ever seen, combined with incredible music. I've also never seen a crowd dance so much. They were so funky! I would love to see them again. This is super close to #1 for me, and it might even eventually be #1 in my mind over time. Unforgettable.
3. Big Gigantic - Could not believe how incredible this was. I was planning on not staying out too late Thursday (since I had a shift at 9:30 AM Friday), but I could not leave this set. Their light show and volume were amazing, and the saxophone was a fresh take on dubstep. I tried to leave 5 times during their sleep to rest, but I couldn't help but stay.
4. Radiohead - Always an amazing band. I got in the pit for the first time for them. Their setlist disappointed me though, since it felt identical to the Tampa setlist when I saw them. I was really happy they busted out Paranoid Android, Kid A, House of Cards, and The Gloaming, but was super bummed that they left off Myxamatosis, Climbing Up the Walls, and especially The National Anthem (saw them twice now and haven't seen it, and it's my favorite RH song :[).
5. The Beach Boys - Been a big BB fan for awhile now, but I'll admit I was skeptical going into their set. I saw them without Brian Wilson a year ago, and it felt like they phoned it in. On top of that, a friend told me he saw them on this tour and they sucked, and it was also cloudy out. But man, what a fun set! They have so many great songs. I only caught the last 45 minutes, but I got right in the pit, and they played a ton of hits near the end (and probably throughout the whole set honestly). I love the crowd dancing and the beach balls thrown around. It was a pleasant surprise, and I'm glad I got to see them with Brian Wilson, since I'm sure I won't get a chance to again.
