Danzig- Not the biggest fan but I did want to check it out for bit to see how it went over. Ended up staying the whole set and had a great time. Danzig had a fit over a unauthorized photographer for a minute but other than that he seemed like he truly enjoyed the show. He was passing out water to the front row the entire set. He was very cool to a drunk kid who got onstage and tried to hug him. He was even smiling when they led the kid off. It was funny to see The King of Devil Rock at Bonnaroo but it was a fun show. The Misfits set was the absolute best part and tore the fucking roof off. High energy and people singing their asses off and going apeshit. Loved it!
Art Vs Science- I was walking to UM and heard them doing a secret show by the fountain. I had never heard of them but their music caught my ear and wouldn't let go. They play very hooky, goofy, electro-pop music and have incredible stage presence. Also saw them at the Sonic Stage and Miller tent Saturday and loved every minute. Danced my azz off. Great time.
Black Lips- I was worried that their noon Which Stage time slot would mellow their normally rowdy shows but I shouldn't have worried. They had a big group of fans in the pit and the band kept the energy high the whole set. They have a great ragged garage rock sound.
Cherub- Never heard of the group but I heard lots of people were talking about going to this show at the Miller tent so I checked them out. Very impressive.
Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings- Awesome as always!
Nobody ever told me how fantastic White Denim are live. They blew me, my friends, and everybody in the vicinity of the tent away. I definitely will not miss them when they come through town

Phish - Never seen them, I heard it wasn't their best set but it certainly blew me away
St Vincent - A fantastic musician who loses nothing live. And she really shreds
Battles - First time, was blown away by the drummer. Also got two rows from the front, so that helped
tUnE-yArDs - Third time seeing her, and 2nd best out of the three. Can't have your first time twice.
Art Vs Science/ Rubblebucket - Both amazing acts that caught me by surprise (more AvS, I familiarized myself with RB beforeheand). I'm keeping an eye on them.
Honorable Mentions/Runner-ups: RHCP (soooo close!), BF5 Gary Clark Jr, Reggie Watts Last Starfighter, Bad Brains and Das Racist
(1) Damon Albarn (2) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (3) King Khan & His Shrines (4) Ty Segall (5) Ms Lauryn Hill (6) Darkside (7) Kanye (8) Janelle Monae (9) Goat (10) Meshuggah.
There were so many great shows this past weekend, so they didn't make it to my Top 5 list, but yeah White Denim was absolutely amazing. Their 15 minute opening jam of It's Him was absolutely unreal, and according to the Bonnaroo Beacon, Umphrey's McGee were there to watch the show and were also floored by them.
By far the best show on Thursday, and one of the best Thursday shows I've ever seen. Up there with Deerhunter and Baroness. Its such a treat and absolute pleasure to get to experience amazing shows on the first day like that.
1/2. Radiohead/Orgone- Radiohead has the best stage setup I've ever seen. If you weren't at Orgone, you cannot possibly imagine what a dance party it was
3. St. Vincent- Dude behind me, after every song, was like "AND SHE'S GOING TO PLAY MORE! SHE'S EVEN GOING TO TOP THAT!" He pretty much summed it up
4. Art vs. Science- Sonic stage only, but that was good enough
5. The Word/Sharon Jones. - Nonstop dancing. God, Sharon Jones is such an entertainer.
Saw so many great performances this year, there's no possible way I could limit a list to five. Even ten is tough.
10. Phantogram 9. Alabama Shakes 8. Little Dragon 7. Joy Formidable 6. St. Vincent 5. Here We Go Magic 4. Santigold 3. Mogwai 2. Radiohead 1. The Antlers
Honorable Mentions: Temper Trap; Feist; Umphreys; We Are Augustines; Cave Singers; Big Gigantic; EMA; Fruit Bats; Phish; The Roots
Biggest Disappointment: skipping Bon Iver in favor of The Shins. I thought The Shins were good, but certainly not great. And they seemed to kind of just be going through their workday without really "connecting" to the crowd in the way most Bonnaroo artists do.
far and away, my #1 was the Umphrey's/Big Gigantic marathon late-night set. Most fun I've had at a show since moe. pulled the sunrise set in '09 i think? maybe '10?
#2. Phish. Fairly predictable setlist, but still very solid, especially for a festival set. The light drizzle was perfect, and the crowd was phenomenal-- great energy from start to finish. #3. Rodrigo y Gabriela. Just stupid-talented. Really like the backing band, made the set stand out from past performances. #4. Superjam. Not the biggest D'Angelo fan, but I can respect his talent, and it's always cool to get a comeback show. The Beatles/Zeppelin/Hendrix covers were spot on. #5. Punch Brothers. I'm actually counting their Which Stage and Sonic Stage sets as one for this spot. The all-covers set they did on Sonic was actually the more entertaining set, but their musicianship is undeniable in their original material. Missed their Digital Music Lounge set.
Honorable mentions: Sarah Jarosz, GZA, Cherub, Dispatch, Water Knots
1.) Skrillex - He's the only reason I initially got tickets to Bonnaroo (had never been before). As a DJ myself, I was happy to see him mixing with CDJ's and a DJM mixer, no computer in sight, so everything he did was in real time with him manually mixing. He's been doing this since Ultra Music Festival to shut people up about him "pushing buttons and dancing." The atmosphere was crazy and even became beautiful when he played his festival version of Cinema. Had a lot of people I went down with that hated him and they walked away huge fans.
2.) Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication is one of my all-time favorite albums across any genre. I knew going in that I was sadly going to have to leave an hour in so I could get in the pit for Skrillex, but heard most of my favorite tracks by then and thought they were fantastic.
3.) BlackStar - Waited two hours to get pit for this show and despite them showing up late, they put on an amazing show and seemed genuinely thrilled to be there.
4.) K.Flay - Had some time to kill on Friday so I checked the Bonnaroo iPhone app which showed sample tracks of everyone performing and discovered this female rapper/electronic producer who was performing at That Tent, so I decided to check her out. I was blown away from the first track. She was producing on the fly with an Akai MPK, playing drums (and also had a fantastic back up drummer), and had the best flow of any rapper all week in my honest opinion. Ended up catching her two more times on Saturday, once in the Ford Garage (which was awesome cause there were only like 20 of us in there, made for a neat atmosphere) and once when she DJ'd a set at the silent disco.
5.) The Roots - Black Thought is in my personal top 10 rappers of all time and The Roots in general are amazing.
I tried to find NoD and the Now Playing crew before Battles and could not find anyone. I was wearing my Black Lips shirt thinking it would be a dead give away who I was. Oh well
I was talking to Ned Ryerson and Airline left of the soundboard.

Cherub Art vs Science RHCP The Temper Trap The Avett Brothers (Mogwai and Sbtrkt are close enough to fit into top 5 too)
The Silent Comedy put on a great show but they put on an even better show when I saw them last year so they didn't make it into my top 5. Skrillex was an amazingly fun and being up close was fun too, it was just so loud I couldn't fully enjoy it. The bleeds from the other stages kept me from getting the most out of Ben Folds and Radiohead was amazing but not AS amazing as the Atlanta show.
1. Moon Taxi (Covered "Killing in the Name" and absolutely slaughtered it. They didn't sound anything like what my research on them had brought up.) 2. The Joy Formidable (So insane at the end.) 3. Tune-Yards (Simply Fantastic) 4. The Roots (My first time ever actually listening to them and they blew my mind.) 5. Art vs. Science (If you rock out and chug a beer during a guitar solo, you automatically make my top 5)
Honorable: Big Gigantic (I only heard one song but it sounded amazing) Alice Cooper (Tired... but sat at the back for two songs and loved it) Flogging Molly (First time seeing them and first time in a mosh pit. Great Experience.) Santigold (Only show I got in the pit for... but she sounded awesome.) St. Vincent (She killed it on stage.)
joy formidable. battles. charles bradley. beach boys. little dragon and/or radiohead (as many have echoed, not as great as their solo show i saw in march.)
1. Moon Taxi (Covered "Killing in the Name" and absolutely slaughtered it. They didn't sound anything like what my research on them had brought up.)
That song and the "When My Time comes" singalong at Dawes were my two highlights of the entire fest. Moon Taxi killed it. So glad this board put me onto them...
1. Skrillex - Wild show. The music and visuals were awesome. Crazy stage set up. 2. Foster the People - few problems with hearing them and we weren't far back, but it was still a great show 3. Mimosa - completely unexpected but I loved it 4. The Roots - has a lot to do with the fact that we were in the pit for this show 5. childish gambino - didn't get to watch the whole show, but what i did see was great. loved him last year too

i have to say, im really suprised that ben folds 5 cracked so many peoples top 5. they were my #1 for the weekend and i was so disappointed i left after like 5 songs. though i blame most of that on the horrible sound at which stage. that being said, here was my top 5
1. Dispatch 2. RHCP 3. Trampled by Turtles 4. Beach Boys 5. cant decide.. either Rodrigo y Gabriela or Moon Taxi
1. Radiohead 2. Rodrigo y Gabriel 3. Phantogram 4. tUnE-yArDs 5. EMA
Like a few others I was only there Thu/Fri otherwise my list would look a little different (except for RH who is a hard act to beat). I missed a lot of good acts Sat/Sun but just about every single band that I wanted to see (with exception to Moon Taxi, Black Star, and Danzig) will be here at ACL in a few months so I'll catch them eventually anyway.

Ben Folds Five sounded just fine in the pit, to me....great, actually. They were my #1 show of the weekend.....I understand that those that didn't like their sound were further back. Sometimes the sound at the which stage wasn't good past the pit.
I think Black Lips were the same way....I got nothing out of the show, but was watching from the back, and those in the pit seemed to be having a blast.
Art vs. Science (specifically the midnight show, but both I saw were great) Santigold Rubblebucket (specifically their Sonic set, but also caught them on Solar) Judah Friedlander (Saturday opening for Marc Maron) Radiohead
