I agree with you, that if they want to do it, they'll find a way. But the stage is super intricate (catwalk over stage, plane, pyro, lighting, projectors, etccccccccccc).
My train of thought is that even if they did the wall on Friday, the bands beforehand would get cheated out of a stage. It takes up so much room they'd be squeezed to a small part of the front of the stage.
Maybe they extend the stage in front to give more room?
It would HAVE to be Friday though. No way they could set it up for Sat night

The issue for Waters doing the Wall is the entire set up of that show. They'd really need to overhaul parts of the What stage field as well as maybe expanding part of the What stage.
They could do a stripped down version but that wouldn't be as much fun.
I'd love Waters but if he were to come I don't think it'd be the full "The Wall" show.
Well, the flyer did say "NEW OPEN AIR VERSION" -- perhaps that cuts down on the massiveness of the stage set up and makes it What Stage compatible?
edit: nevermind. just googled pictures and read about the "new open air version" it said it actually scaled UP the setup. I don't think they could pull this off at the What stage:

But they're using this setup in Belgium on a festival stage of about the same size as the What stage.
Yea but that doesn't mean it's the same. They have to set up a lot of stuff in the field and there's a lot of complications that Roo would have to deal with. I agree with Flanzo that if they wanted to pull it off they would maybe be able to find a way but I'm not positive they are going to shoot for that. It would be pretty epic if it happened though.

Much of the wall in the picture shown is build during the show (first set). If you wanted to do this on the what stage, you could move (build) more stage several feet forward, keep the middle open for bands during the day, while the crews build the left and right sides, rigging the plane and pyrotecnics and setting up the projectors that illuminate ( show the video). Give maybe one or two hours before the set. So Waters might start at midnight. It can be done.
That could absolutely be done, no doubt in my mind. It'd take a bunch of extra work, particularly for Roger Waters crew who'd have to deal with the idiosyncrasies of Roo. I don't see AC paying enough of a premium for it to be worth it for them.
1. Holy quacking shiz that stage setup is massive. That certainly wouldn't fit on the What field as is. I do think they could make The Wall work in some form at Roo but I don't think that they will.
2. The idea that Pearl Jam was 5 years ago makes me feel old. I'm starting to think they could be a legit possibility.
They were heavily speculated as a Coachella headliner, but for some reason that speculation fell off recently. I don't know why, but it makes sense (they were the first band to ever play at the polo fields, exactly 20 years ago). I could see them doing a big four rotation - Coach, Bonnaroo, Lolla, ACL.
Muse has nothing booked for 6 weeks before Roo, and they seem to have good US coverage during their tour here. Looking at the country I just don't see 6 more weeks of work for them to stay here.
I took that to mean controversial on here....like some people like them some people think they suck. Not controversial like they urinate on photos of religious leaders at their shows.
Ok, just for argument sake, if Muse announced more US tour dates, where would the play? I mean, Bonnaroo, obviously, cause "CHANCE OF A LIFETIME BRO" but then what? DC, NC, Dallas and Colorado are the only glaring omissions I see in their tour. So what's the scenario here, they play North American dates till April, take May off, and then do like 6 dates in June? It just seems super-unlikely.
I feel like it is kind of a short North American tour, as is... I could easily see them making a second round announcement, which could also just as easily include Bonnaroo. In fact, Bonnaroo might be their reason for not announcing shows around that time quite yet.
I'm just saying, I see no real evidence to rule out Muse, especially when coupled with the question: Who the hell is our headliners this year?!

You're not kidding! That being said I'd love to see PJ again, Muse would be fine, Prince would be epic.
About Roger Waters and the Wall. It's not that I can't see AC spending the money for the show but WHY would they? Since Waters has toured with the Wall recently they don't get a sense of a must get or exclusive and if it's a pain in the
