if you were a production company, why, oh why, would you give someone a shiz load of money that has already quacked you over once. you wouldnt. that is the answer. IT AINT HAPPENIN, BRAH.
This is also why Maroon 5 hasn't been invited back.
Also, the only reason people were complaining in 2008 was because people complain every year. That, and this board was still made up of the "old" Bonnaroo crowd, the people who kept waiting for all the jambandzzz to come back, who couldn't fathom the festival adding new, exciting acts and genres of music that occasionaly got played on formats not including old Maxell XL II cassette tapes. 2008 was like the apex of "Thing X Will Ruin Bonnaroo and the Bonnaroo Vibe" era - you had heavy metal bands, rappers, indie rock, electronic stuff, semi-mainstream music...the reactions were priceless.
But go and look at that lineup and tell me its not the most balanced, deepest lineup they've ever featured. The only thing wrong with it is WSP, but what are you going to do?
I think you're overselling the lineup a tad, although if you're a fan of bluegrass, it was a quality lineup in that regard. Really, looking back at that lineup the thing that stands out to me most was Ghostland Observatory being a thing that people were actually enthusiastic about at the time (go figure).
I also think you're underselling the non-Kanye related biznatching that went on leading up to the festival. I'll leave it at that.

Uhh....I'm still wildly enthusiastic about Ghostland Observatory. I've only seen them 3 times but they've all been AMAZING shows. If they were at Roo again I'd be very happy. Catchy as hell songs with an energetic front-man? Works for me.

So I take it you don't like songwriting, but you do like fancy light shows?

I like a lot of things, why? Am I only allowed to like one?
for the record, I think last year's Superjam was the best in a while... Amazing musicians (many of which weren't even performing with another band that weekend) and the setlist was phenomenal. Not to mention it was the return of D'Angelo!

That was my second favorite show of the weekend behind Radiohead.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

ok here's my "way out of left field/Quack everything we know i dont give a shiz/I know it's not gonna happen but i need some spank bank material" wish for bonnaroo...
Eric Clapton - The Who - something - something - John Mayer
"Why would you want such a lineup Kev-Bot?" you may ask... well I'll tell you fellow inforoosters. Pino Palladino is currently the bass player for The Who. Last time I checked, Steve Jordan was the drummer for Clapton. So basically I just want a John Mayer Trio show and I'd be willing to sacrifice our lineup to see it...

I'm pretty sure Jugs. is the guy who gets to decide that.
wtf? You're not making sense. How is that a response to my question? What does juggs have to do at all with that?
I like songwriting. Love it actually.
You seriously want me to answer your question about whether you're allowed to like a band I don't like? Musical taste is subjective.
I think Ghostland Observatory is a band that writes terrible songs because I've listened to three of their albums, and I didn't like any of them. I also don't particularly respect them because I have a little insight into how they started and what their work ethic is (or was back in the day). Let's just say they skipped a lot of necessary steps most bands take to become successful and I think that's pretty obvious from their album output and their subsequent decline in popularity.
