You should try out the pit sometime, at either the What or Which. Pretty easy to get in/rail for smaller names.
I've only been in the pit for Eminem and Arcade Fire which were obviously packed. I didn't even know Which had a pit to be perfectly honest.
Robert plant, the roots, mumford for me. Pits in the day are great if you wanna see the whole show because casual listeners usually wanna split time between 2 acts at different stages. Plant was amazing and i couldnt justify being 10 ft away from robert and leaving to stand in the back of the strokes.
But the worst was the black keys to eminem sandwich that lasted an eternity.

Iv been in the pit for Stevie, Jay, Arcade Fire, Eminem, Radiohead, RHCP, and Phish... Last year was the first time I got in the which pit for the Shins.... I don't think I would want to watch a headlining Bonnaroo act anywhere but the pit, unless I just had like zero interest and neither did any of my friends.

I think sam bush Is the only one I did rail for last year. I did rail for wsp and sci in 2011. I just set at the which stage after buffalo springfield until cheese came on. That 3 hours or so was one of the best times I've ever had at roo. Met so many great people.
Oh for sure. I pulled a bacon for Superjam and Gza. That was one of the best decisions I've made since I started going to Roo.
I was at super jam way early and remember being involved in a pretty great discussion about who was gonna be playing. Started as a circle of 3-4 dudes, and grew as people filed in. Didn't get rail, but probably 5-10 people back on the right side.
2012 was my first year and I got pit for radiohead and Gary Clark Jr. As for pee breaks, I noticed if you're friendly with the people around you they will let you step out of line and come back in to go to the bathroom.
...but...how do u secure a rail or pit spot and take peepee breaks?
Usually you'll be waiting with a bunch of other people....like I would head in alone but then get to know the others who were waiting on the rail with me. While it's still early you can ask them "Hey do you guys mind if I run to the bathroom and come back to this rail spot" and they tend to hold it for you. It helps if you offer to get them anything (food/drink) while you're out.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
Early on I heard that there isn't even a line for the pit, is this true?
Also, say you're not in the pit but you're as close as possible in the regular area, how close is that?
For your earlier acts, you can walk right in. A bunch of us went to the pit for Charles Bradley at What this year. There were probably more people in the RHCP line for the left side of the pit than there were people in the pit for Charles Bradley.
This may help you gauge how close you can get outside of being in the pit.
Pits are not terribly hard. Didn't to roo last year until Fri night for Radiohead and walked right in about 20 min after show started. Also, got in easily for MMJ and Arcade Fire. Been shut out a few times though such as Black Keys, Jay Z, and Eminem.
I have no proof but I'm sure i've laid in/sat on someone else's urine at Bonnaroo.
Anyone who leans up against the walls knows what i'm talking about
There were a few local guys behind me during Jay-Z in 2010. Not only were they so Quacked up that they were constantly burning my friend with their cigarette, they also felt it a good idea to piss in cups and drop it in front of them, occasionally sprinkling the backs of our legs with fresh, warm urine. I'm an extremely peaceful guy but that scenario almost got ugly.
