Hi guys! We've never been to Bonnaroo before but have been researching and planning like crazy. Our crew would prefer to drink filtered water and I've read that there will be free filtered water stations. My plan is to bring a 5 gallon water cooler filled with water into the campgrounds, and then when it runs out, walk it over to a filtered water station and fill it up. However, I just read about some special Bonnaroo water bottles and it sounds like you may only be able to fill up these special bottles? Can anyone comment on whether it is allowed and feasible to fill up a cooler maybe once per day at a filtered water station? Any advice would be great, thanks!
The filtered water stations are in centeroo not in the campgrounds. I don't think they will let you in with a five gallon water cooler. And even if they did filled your five gallons would weigh in around 41 pounds.
well...I def dont want to piss anyone off but I figured that us filling the cooler at once and then drinking from that would be more efficient and in the long run and take less time than all 8 of our group going up one by one all day to fill their water bottles...
what kind of a spigot is it? is it feasible to fill a round drink cooler at those stations? They dont only allow folks with Bonnaroo bottles to fill up there?

To answer your last question, no, you don't have to have a special "Bonnaroo bottle" to fill up at the stations. It's all free!
However, the fountains are crowded and (often times) slow. You're not going to want to push through with a cooler and you're not going to want to hog a spigot for twenty minutes while you wait for it to dispense 5 gallons. There's also no way to tell how close you'll be to the campground fountains, so you could be carrying that 41 pounds in the sun for a long while.
Your best bet is to buy pre-packaged water bottles or gallon jugs to drink while at camp, then take water bottles or camelbaks into Centeroo to refill between shows.
EDIT: Reading your original post makes me think you expect that 5 gallon cooler to last your group of 8 all day. Trust me, you need WAYYYY more water than that. Bring more water than you think you'll need.
The crowd and the water stations may not be as bad this year, at least early in the day. The problem previously was they made everyone dump their water when coming into Centeroo, so as soon as people got in, they had to stop and fill up their bottles and/or Camelbaks, which caused a massive slowdown. Plus, with so many people drinking the water, it lost pressure at times and came out as a trickle. Now, it should just be people whose water ran out, which should speed the process considerably.
We usually bring a portable water filter and just fill up a 5gal container at the regular water troughs.

interesting, can you please elaborate? Do you fill the 5 gallons and then filter it as it comes out? Or do you filter it between the fountain and the 5 gallon jug? Does it remove most of the sulfur smell/taste?
