It's a HUGE longshot, but with Bonnaroo being so close I like to play the "what if" game.
What if: The comment made by Ashely Capps about thinking "in the box" is a reference to Jane's Addiction? They were touring with Black Box Revelation and do have a VEVO feed called "Out of the Box"?
Like I said, a long shot, but figured I'd throw it out there. I know they're headliner material, but who knows?

pretty sure 'in the box' just means artists that are already playing roo this year.

Just got an email from Rubblebucket's publicist that they are taking part in a special "surprise" set Saturday night, so I can only assume this is it. As for the guests, what's Femi and Seun up to this weekend?

Well, well, well. Look what we have here - a bunch of morose looking motherf*ckers who all DOUBTED THE CAPP DOGG! And what kind of rabbit did ol' Capp-dini pull out of his hat? A living, breathing, singing-so-goddang-hard-your-girlfriends-panties-melted-right-the-f*ck-off D'ANGELO. Had these b*tches going wild, if you catch my drift. That young lady's hand was on more than my VIP pass, if you know what Big Capp is saying.

Gotta admit that I doubted him, but there's not too much in the surprise department that could be quacking cooler than a D'Angelo appearance when he's not even at the quacking festival. Holy shiz

Parades sound like cool surprises. Did they tweet these ahead of time? I didn't see them, then again our phone had very sketchy service.
D'angelo??? Snoooze. Kenny Rogers? Who cares? Lionel Richie is probably the only surprise guest I would care about and I missed him. Oh well, another year of either not seeing surprises or not caring. I believe Nas showing up with Beastie Boys is still the biggest surprise I've seen in 4 years of Bonnaroo. I guess I'm probably expecting too much, though I knew better this year with AC's "mindblowing" guests.

D'angelo, one of the most reclusive, sought after soul singers/artists of the last 20 years makes a surprise appearance (his first US show in 20 years!!!), and that's not enough? Tell me, what would you have wanted? What "surprise" would have made kikosanchez happy?
They did tweet things like parades ahead of time. Let people know something would be happening and to stay tuned.
Yeah, they tweeted that there'd be a parade leaving from the Ferris Wheel at 1AM after Radiohead. Stood there for over an hour with some other Inforoosters. No parade.
Then they tweeted that Art Vs Science just finished a surprise set at the Fountain. I was pissed.

Not planned by AC, but my favorite surprise of the weekend was when 300 people stormed the stage at Santigold!! The Thursday night parade was also pretty sweet to be right behind Rhys Darby. he was great; the dog was ok.

Sorry to offend you, just not an R&B fan. Just take Coachella's rap show as example of surprise guests and blowing peoples' minds. They got just about every major rapper there is on stage, then holo'd Tupac. Not that a rap superjam is my dream, but just as an example... D'angelo cuts a certain swath of the Bonnaroo crowd, but not exactly for everyone wanting a jam show. You have to be old enough to remember his heyday, but not so old you don't know him at all, plus be into R&B. Not exactly appealing to everyone at Bonnaroo. It's all good though, big surprises or not, Roo failed to disappoint once again!
CKS had to show me who D'Angelo was today. Of course she chose that video where he's naked and sweating, while I was eating. Ugh! So hard to eat with a boner.

This really ticked me off. I left Major Lazer early for this. I promised my friend it would be great and told her about the Preservation Hall/MMJ/Portugal. The Man parade last year. And we waited for like 20 minutes, and nothing. No tweets from Bonnaroo saying it was off, even after I tweeted them asking about it.
