My old roommate works for a realty company in gs. Would certainly tell me if he had any concrete info. Seems to me this lineup will be great due to all the work they are putting in keeping everyone's mouth shut. Please give me john butler and big boi
If the rumors of Macca are true and I have also heard some Jim James rumblings. That being said, I would love a duet of these two with Yim Yames playing the George Harrison role since he did put out an entire album in his tribute. Here comes the Sun would be fitting.
Maybe it was going to come out today, but McCartney fell through so we gotta wait on them to find another headliner until they give up and decide to bump TAB, Avetts, or YYYs up as a headliner.
Is VIP worth it? I do believe that everything I've read about Hangout's VIP sounds worth it.
It's the absolute best VIP experience you will ever have. Free alcohol, clean bathrooms, groove area is ridiculous and there are private sets that only VIP can see (Gary Clark Jr's VIP set was the absolute highlight of the fest last year IMO), and there's a quacking pool that you can chill in near the main stage. The uber VIP doesn't seem worth it to me though, but I'm not really interested in chilling in a hot tub in the summer at an elevated position over everybody and get massages for that much extra money. Of course we got hooked up with VIP tix for cheap by our condo last year and it was a complete accident that our broke donkeys got to experience that.
Petty seemed to be the least likely to me because there is no evidence of him touring this summer. MumSons is the closest thing to a lock of a headliner that we have. Caddyshaq's source is good as it was the same one that made confirmz the previous two years (although I don't recall if there is evidence of that on inforoo). Muse makes perfect sense to take the RHCP/Foo Fighters/rock spot (or Green Day but I find them less likely because of the Voodoodoo incident last year). I can't really think of any others besides The Killers that are touring and they are already booked on the 18th and 19th up north.
It's 3 sources now if you count surf's client, but that's also a "heard" instead of a "know."
What if it's Sound City Players with an appearance by McCartney? More or less plausible?
Oh yeah, forgot about 'the client.' haha. Sound City Players would be over the top. Who knows though...nothing really to go on by their plausibility other than Coachella didn't get 'em, but who knows if they even tried with that undercard.
Sorry to be a shitty poster - I have not checked in with my connection in the Heartbreakers. I honestly don't know. But to say Petty is out because a tour hasn't been announced, might not be accurate. My memory is that the 2008 summer tour was announced after the Super Bowl half-time performance (early Feb 2008).
I didn't say he was out...just that he seemed the most unlikely out of those 3 because of no tour announcements. Honestly, I find him more likely than Macca as far as my expectations of what this fest could get. We are all going to lose our shit if they really scored Macca for hangout # 4.

From Tool's website... "I was hoping to be able to throw some of you a bone the first week of the New Year, but for certain reasons this announcement has been pushed back a month. Therefore, look for a news post that will be exciting to some towards the end of the first week in February."

Same time Hangout likely posts their lineup?
I would cream myself, but I think it's just a coincidence. I'm sure they'll be announcing the date of their album release and/or some tour dates.

Fun are doing a small festival in the Northeast in May, it hasn't been announced yet but they're headlining. Wouldn't be surprised to see them do a string of festival dates... Possibly hangout?
I hope I didn't sound excited about this. I actually hate those guys, but they're popular.

I know this is selfish, but I would love to hear confirmation that the lineup did not include Paul McCartney or Tool. Mainly, b/c I am probably not attending, but if either of those happen I will be walking around asking folks for a ticket at the gates.

I am glad that you added the second part of this. The fact that this band that has had 2 popular songs out is potentially headlining a festival speaks volumes. yikes. They'd be a nice afternoon filler, love to have them during a set I'm into to slim down the crowd.

Anywhere between noon and two at best IMO. Anything past that is vomit-inducing.

I don't see how Macca is impossible. Look at Rothbury 2009, Dylan and The Dead, among other big name artists (Willie Nelson, YMSB, SCI, Mule, Crowes, Claypool, ZPZ)...and that was only their second year, and I don't think that Roth was as big as HO is, or else it'd still be around.
