Lakehood shows I went to last summer had a way better vibe (even though the Phish show sucked).
That was a weird show. We got really bombed for that one after keeping it together for a great 2nd set at Oak Mountain. Golden Age > Free > Light was probably my favorite thing that night, but nothing special. Light and Sand were on fire this last tour.
Jebus, how bad is it when you realize that you'd rather have black keys over the possible/rumored headliners...
It's just that kind of year. If you'd told me last summer that Petty/Black Keys/Muse was looking like the best case scenario, I wouldn't have believed it. But the available BNAs are just so horrible this year.

That Lakewood Phish show reminded me that I'm getting old. As we were trying to get out of Lakewood, a van almost hit us turning from the middle lane onto the interstate. So my cousin said we should moon him. As I was sticking my ass out the window on I75, I threw my back out. Instant f'n Karma right there. My wife and my cousin didn't believe me until we pulled up to my cousins house and I couldn't stand up straight. I was stooped over and hobbling for like 3 straight days.
On a different note, any of you Pensacola/Mobile Gulf Coast guys coming to the Vinyl to see Galactic next week? Or ya'll waiting until February to see them at the Soul Kitchen?

Fishbone is worth every second. Was going to see them at the Music Box, but Reel Big Fish is playing Vinyl that same night and my friend wants to go to that instead, plus there will be less crowd cause it'll be Fat Tuesday in Mobile.

^^ umm, dude, Fishbone is playing the mf'in AMB in the birthplace of Mardi Gras in the New World, on Fat Tuesday. You gotta go to that. Besides, by the end of Fat Tuesday everyone is faded and the crowd has died down.
The annual Pine Hill Haints show on Joe Cain Day (one of th best shows all year) is always fairly crowded though. Were you there the year Monotonix played?? That was the 2nd best punk rock show of my life (after a free Butthole Surfers show in NOLA).

I'll most likely go to the Pcola show. Might end up in Mobile too, but I'm still pondering going to Aura Fest so it will depend on what fits into my budget.

screw QOTSA. i'm greedy. i want a full on kyuss reunion. i'd do very depraved things to see a kyuss reunion at hangout.
You are aware that Kyuss Lives! (everyone except Josh) just toured in 2011, played nola, and The Sword opened, right? That show quacking ruled, btw. A real Kyuss reunion with Josh will NEVER happen. In fact he sued them and made them change the name. They are now called Vista Chino. But yeah, QOTSA live is hit or miss. I've seen them 3 times...two of the shows were awesome and one of the shows blew all kindsa donkey weeniek. Their sound is really suited for smaller venues and I imagine they wouldn't be that great in a festival setting unless you were able to get really close.

Just got an email about Crosby, Stills and Nash playing in Huntsville close to those dates. I would bet alot that they are one of the headliners. Sucks but i bet it will happen. They play Jacksonville, Fl on May 17 then not again till the 21st in South Carolina.

They would not be a headliner. I don't even think they'd play. I took my Dad to see them on his bday at The Wharf in '08 (where they'd more likely play than Hangout) and I had no desire the whole show to stand up. Crosby looked like a corpse on stage, it was really beautiful music but by no means appropriate for a music festival full of ADHD young people.
That said, first Hangout had Alison Krauss, which almost put me to sleep before I escaped to Girl Talk.

They have had Randy Newman, Paul Simon, Ray LaMontagne, allison krauss and other snoozers so C,S & N wouldnt be a stretch in my mind. Just looks too much like a possiblity with the dates and locations lining up like it is.

I'll be at the VMH Galactic show! Hope to see some peeps there. Also, Stanton drum clinic @ Guitar Center pre-show @ 7 pm.

No other 4 day gaps during the entire tour. Sounds like a good possibility.

At least until the mods allow us to make special interest groups where members can join to read/discuss whatever group subjects that interests them...in this case, local shindigs around the gulf coast area.

Man, CSN is not what I was hoping for...i saw them 10 or 15yrs ago at midtown music and it was pretty good, but................if they're not top six, cool, if they are, not cool.
I did a quick scan of the last three Jazz fest lineups for crossover with Hangout....it looks to be minimal...2010- Crowes & Blind Boys, 2011- Avetts, 2012-(none that i saw)...........so, we should be able to rule a lot of bands out when jazz drops next week..........Beale 2012-Gary Clark, Dr.Dog.....Waka 2012-Rebelution,Edward Sharpe, Gary Clark
