The Roots Grizzly Bear Big Boi FlyLo (Captain Murphy?) Frank Ocean
All of them will be touring heavily, probably doing plenty of festival dates, so I'd say they're all realistic. It's kind of depressing that I couldn't think of a realistic headliner I'd be excited about, but a strong enough undercard could still sell me.

I'll check them out. Guessing maybe 75-100 will be at the show here. Cool venue, GREAT sound system. New place, and they had Hundred Waters as their grand opening party, which incidentally I could see at hangout. They were amazing.
Are ya'll serious about Deluna being a better fest? If so, why?....other than being able to go in the ocean which would make Hangout so much better.,,,,and late nights of course...i actually wish the music didn't start until 3 or 4.
Just read that Beck has an album in the can.........Alice in Chains at Beale St.
And I second the 10ft Ganja request. Those guys are top notch.

In 2012, on top of all of those other things that I mentioned, the lineup for DeLuna was better. My statement was not a general statement regarding the two fests...it was comparing my specific experiences in 2012. I didn't make it to DeLuna in 2011.

Deluna 2012>2011, mainly because the first night of Deluna 2011 was super lame. Cake was godawful "cmon everyone sing along! Now just the ladies on this side! Now the fellas!" *PUKE* Weezer headlined that night and were tight but Weezer post Blue Album does nothing for me. They did an awesome cover of Paranoid Android that caught me by surprise though. There were less people at DeLuna 2011 because the headliner Linkin Park cancelled like biznatchess last minute, which kept all the Navy derd and budlight bro levels to a minimum.
The Saturday of DeLuna '11 was Quackkking unreal. Big Boi>New Pornographers>Infamous Stringdusters>Papa Grows Funk>The Shins>Jane's Addiction>Ghostland Observatory. One of the best festi days ever.
Crowd isn't nearly as cool as Hangout but you go with a crew and rage it and it doesn't matter. The LEOS at DeLuna that year were hilarious. These kids next to me were smoking a J before Jane's and this obvious UC pops up wearing a walmart Bob Marley tie dye all trying to look like a hobo or something. He used a prospector voice and said "heyyyyyyyy hippppies! Y'all have any kinnnd buddss for sale?!?!!?" Saw that same guy during Rebirth Brass Band at Deluna 2012 using his radio to get the uniform'd boys to roll in. I got him with a "heyyyyyyy hipppiee!!" when he walked by he cracked the Quackk up because he knew how funny his schtick was.

The thing I like about Deluna is that you can basically do what you want. And even though I enjoyed the lineup just fine at Hangout, between the dogs at the entrance and the bros making sure they have enough elbow room there, Deluna was just more relaxed to me. I'm sure part of that is the fact that there were no big crowds, even at the headliners, for Deluna.

^^ Nail on the head'd
Hangout went in one year from being a local/regional festi to a national destination fest.
DeLuna still has that same 'locals only' vibe that Hangout had the first year (even though people came from all over). In other words, it wasn't a bunch of bros acting like they'd never been to the beach or a concert before.
You're really only going to go to DeLuna because you want to go. Tons of Hangout goers are there just because its the cool thing to do.

That news can only be verified by super hetti PT bros, who's third eyes are able to predict panic tour dates/locations, until the official announcement happens in a week or two.
Whatever summers breezer, you'll see.
WSP Spring Tour will look something like this Athens - 4/6 Macon - 4/7 St. Louis 4/9-10 Chicago 4/11-13 Louisville 4/16 Wanee - 4/19-4/20 Columbia 4/22-23 Orange Beach 4/26-28 Jazzfest - 5/2 Nashville - 5/3-4

I seriously doubt they would get booked as a headliner after being there in 2011. I seriously doubt that they will ever get booked in Orange Beach or Gulf Shores ever again to be honest. They'll be at Jazzfest on 5/2 though. Possibly a single Biloxi show in between Alpheretta and NOLA.

Pretty lame that a 10k seat amphitheater in the South's only shows scheduled through April are Sean Payton's boy Kenny Chesney and some other dude named Luke Bryan (or is that two dudes named Luke and Bryan? whatever). Awful.

"Tell your boy to clean out his 3rd eye"
Dude, the majority of those dates are on point or pretty damn close. Alpha was already known to happen, just not where. Athens/Macon may still happen. Wanee is happening, Jazzfest is happening. OB may be added later. Everyone has been saying it is going to happen.

Alabama White Boi, you've seen 1/6th of 1 WSMFP show, you ain't qualified to make statements like that.

Seriously though. The people of Orange Beach / Gulf Shores don't want Phish/WSP coming into their biznatchass town in the same way that they don't want those "satanic" metal bands coming here. And the smart people that like to go to these shows realize this so they've probably moved closer to somewhere their fav bands always play. And that is why whenever we do get a big band (that is barely relevant anymore) like VAN HALEN that shiz doesn't sell out. Remember how empty that Hendrix tribute show was? Most bands skip NOLA, so it's expected that 99% of them skip OB/GS too. Wharf people know Phish/WSP would do well or sell out, but I feel like there are other hands in the pie, preventing them from pulling the trigger on booking. Bible thump'd
Having dozens of WSP shows under my belt would not make my words any more/less true, would they?

Pretty sure Flaming Lips are out: 05/20 – London, UK @ Roundhouse 05/21 – London, UK @ Roundhouse Praise Satan. 3 years in a row in that spot would have sent me over the edge. Give that spot to QOTSA.
And Black Keys would be a headliner if they were added. Unlikely because they just played in 2011. We'll probably get Black Key'd at Voodoo though.

I could still see it happening. Hangout hasn't been averse to repeats, and since The Black Keys didn't actually headline in 2011, they wouldn't be repeating a top 3 act. I know that I've been critical of their 2011 set around these parts, but I'd still take them over Mumford, Muse, The Killers.....hell, I'd prefer them to most of the other rumored acts. Maybe not likely, but still possible.
Have to hand it to you Hetty. You've obviously got some good intel in the brown cat world. Looks like you can pencil in Wanee and NO so you were pretty right on.....so what's the big May gap about and why not announce the Wharf now?
.....No, I was not at the first Hangout, but if the crowds were still like that, there wouldn't still be a Hangout.....at least not with any chance at the headliners we're hoping for....and I find that people who travel a long way for music are generally pretty into it.
...and the promoters choose the artists (to attract fans), not the townspeople. it was reported the gulf shores city council tried to get a veto and that was a non-starter. ob is limited because it's a destination.
pumped for two alpharetta shows. the sound in that venue is awesome. so much better than the old school amphitheaters. my jan. & feb has Jon Spencer, BHTM, RRE, DSO & Lotus...not bad.

Solidrock- Yea I know what you're saying but with more well known fests you get the industry more involved in choosing headliners for you. RHCP are totally irrelevant musically, yet headlined a ton of huge fests last year. Kings of Leon was the same way in 2010. That lame ass band headlining Roo and Outside Land, with the latter being a headlining spot over Furthur. (blasphemy considering there was a to be another Dead show at the site of the Human Be-In!!)
Hangout and DeLuna are both fun fests but DeLuna is just super low key and no hassle. I am grateful to have both fests in my back yard as I've driven 15 hrs for fests before (Allgood WV).
The vibe just wasn't as good at Hangout last year because of all the DMB Chads so I'm just hating. I had a great time anyways though. I have a great time wherever I go, unless it's a Jesus & Mary Chain concert.
I may do the Alpha shows.....if I can get pit tix. Sick of Alpharetta to be honest. The suburbs suck, it's extra driving, getting in on a Friday you're sitting in traffic forever, the LEOs are starting to crack down since the honeymoon is over. Lakehood shows I went to last summer had a way better vibe (even though the Phish show sucked).

^^ Lakehood for me is perfect, I can get there without even hitting ATL proper. A lot is cool but Lakehood is a way wilder scene imo, and you don't need a special parking pass.
When it comes down to it I'd just rather be partying in te ghetto rather than the burbs. Ya gotta stay in a hotel if you use Alpha or you run serious risk post-show.
