^Hell, based on this thread, I wouldn't expect a quarter of inforooers to be aware of the awesomeness that is Kingpin. "Mumson" was used earlier here and I immediately thought of that movie.
Ever seen Big Easy Express? Mumford & Sons is great music to me, but I'm not going to try to get anyone to like it because that sometimes seems fruitless. But that documentary is great fun to watch. I think they are the second best band on the film (Ed Sharpe is one of my favorite live bands of the last couple of years). With that said, I don't think the Mums are headliners. Not yet.

That is some guy whitey cornbread shitt right there. It's unbearably bad. Hung around and watched them for 30mins at FunFunFun and they were just oozing pretentious hipster douchebaggery. Gotta love a band that has multiple band members that prance around in facepaint not actually doing anything.
The biggest GRATEFUL festival moment of 2012 was having a surprise Gary Clark Jr. VIP set pop up at Hangout when I normally would have been stuck getting Edward Sharpe'd immediately after hitting the stratosphere with Steve Winwood.

Ha...it was a complete joke that Edward Sharpe headlined the Orange stage @fff7 on Sunday. Both of the bands that played before them, The Black Angels and Explosions in the Sky, blew them out the f'n water. They should have let The Black Angels close her out. It was obvious that like half of the people left the festival after the Explosions in the Sky // De La Soul // Fucked Up sets because the headliners on just about every stage was a joke: Edward Sharpe // Eienne De Crecy (Saw at Voodoo with awesome visuals on vidja screens...didn't have that at FFF so kinda boring) // Turbonegro (amazing...ly bad!) // Black Moth Super Rainbow (BMSR is aight, but yellow tent show was not even close to as good as the late night set the night before...the should have let Trail of the Dead close the yellow tent) All that being said...I'd love to have The Black Angels play at dusk on 'Letting Go Stage' at Hangout during one of the lamest act they get to close the Chevrolet stage's set.
Listen up ladies and gentlemen and I will break down my highly respected opinion on this hipster argument because I know how much all of you care about my opinion...especially the infouroo horsemen (Juggs, Flanz, Horn, and Ned). I would first like to state that every single one of you sumbitches here at inforoo are in fact hipsters (including me) and it's nothing to be offended by unless you are in denial (not just a river) simply because of your misunderstanding of the modern definition of "hipster." Now...that does not necessarily mean that you are a pretentious hipster douwchebag. In fact, douwchebag/douchebaggery is a relative term that can be applied on anyone depending on the opinion(s) of the person that applying the term.
And now, to directly address his royal highness in a manner that hopefully will not make him turn into the Hulk and smash me with his ab muscles:
lulz at the notion that Edward Sharpe is even remotely "hipster."
Your apparent interpretation of the definition of "hipster" seems to be one who enjoys obscure bands, but on the rest of the internet the term has become versatile enough to be used to describe more traits than just that. Judging by the ultra-long definition written on Urban Dictionary on Nov 22, 2007, which has been widely accepted by the internet for 5 years now, the term is quite complex so interpretation can be a bit convoluted:
Hipsters are a subculture of men and women typically in their 20's and 30's that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter. The greatest concentrations of hipsters can be found living in the Williamsburg, Wicker Park, and Mission District neighborhoods of major cosmopolitan centers such as New York, Chicago, and San Francisco respectively. Although "hipsterism" is really a state of mind, it is also often intertwined with distinct fashion sensibilities. Hipsters reject the culturally-ignorant attitudes of mainstream consumers, and are often be seen wearing vintage and thrift store inspired fashions, tight-fitting jeans, old-school sneakers, and sometimes thick rimmed glasses. Both hipster men and women sport similar androgynous hair styles that include combinations of messy shag cuts and asymmetric side-swept bangs. Such styles are often associated with the work of creative stylists at urban salons, and are usually too "edgy" for the culturally-sheltered mainstream consumer. The "effortless cool" urban bohemian look of a hipster is exemplified in Urban Outfitters and American Apparel ads which cater towards the hipster demographic. Despite misconceptions based on their aesthetic tastes, hipsters tend to be well educated and often have liberal arts degrees, or degrees in maths and sciences, which also require certain creative analytical thinking abilities. Consequently many hipsters tend to have jobs in the music, art, and fashion industries. It is a myth that most hipsters are unemployed and live off of their parent's trust funds. Hipsters shun mainstream societal conventions that apply to dating preferences and traditional "rules" of physical attraction. It is part of the hipster central dogma not to be influenced by mainsream advertising and media, which tends to only promote ethnocentric ideals of beauty. The concepts of androgyny and feminism have influenced hipster culture, where hipster men are often as thin as the women they date. The muscular and athletic all-American male ideal is not seen as attractive by confident and culturally-empowered hipster women who instead view them as symbols of male oppression, sexism, and misogyny. Likewise, culturally-vapid sorority-type girls with fake blond hair, overly tanned skin, and "Britney Spears tube-tops" are not seen as attractive by cultured hipster males who instead see them as symbols of female insecurity, low self-esteem, and lack of cultural intelligence and independent thinking. Hipsters are also very racially open-minded, and the greatest number of interracial couples in any urban environment are typically found within the hipster subculture. Although hipsters are technically conformists within their own subculture, in comparison to the much larger mainstream mass, they are pioneers and leaders of the latest cultural trends and ideals. For example, the surge of jeans made to look old and worn (i.e. "distressed"), that have become prevalent at stores such as The Gap, American Eagle, Abercrombie and Fitch, and Hollister, were originally paraded by hipsters who shopped in thrift stores years before such clothing items were mass produced and sold to the mainstream consumer. The true irony here is that many of the detractors of hipster culture are in fact unknowingly following a path that hipsters have carved out years before them. This phenomena also applies to music as well, as many bands have become successful and known to mainstream audiences only because hipsters first found and listened to them as early-adopters of new culture. Once certain concepts of fashion and music have reached mainstream audiences, hipsters move on to something new and improved. Because of the rise of various online photo-blog and social networking sites, insights into urban hipster culture is reaching sheltered suburban audiences at an exponential rate. Cultural "norms" have been deconstructed by hipster culture as a whole. Hipsterism is often dismissed as just an image thing by some, but the culture as a whole is effecting changes in society, leading to feelings of insecurity and resentment in people who are no longer a part of the cultural ruling class. For example, a lot of anti-hipster sentiment evidently comes from culturally-clueless suburban frat boy types who feel that the more sensitive, intelligent, and culturally aware hipster ideal threatens their insecure sense of masculinity. Anti-hipster sentiment often comes from people who simply can't keep up with social change and are envious of those who can.
they were just oozing pretentious hipster douchebaggery.
is a bit more complex than your above interpretation of what he said because of the combo used (this powerful combo can be used to express an opinion that could be unique to anyone). Alos, the term "hipster" has not only become quite common in describing more than one trait besides taste in music (or a particular band's fanbase in this particular case I believe is how you interpreted it), it has become nearly synonymous with indie-rockers with shaggy haircuts and interesting fashion selections which could lead many people into directly calling out Mr. Ed Sharpe.
Hell, these articles were published recently and called Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros "hipsters":
Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros - This gang of overgrown children aren't just hipsters, they're hippie-sters: A double whammy of annoying that melds the folly and creepiness of a hippie cult with the semi-ironic pretension of a hipster's attempt at spirituality. Their grins are a little too wide, robes a little too Jesus-like and sing-songy joy a little too childlike to ring true, and it distracts from their legitimate talent as musicians. It's good and well that frontman Alex Ebert is sober and pushing himself in different artistic directions, but the new beard and persona make him less of a Bowie than the Charles Manson of twee.
Music will be very important in your hipster lifestyle. I know this will be hard, since you're depressingly mainstream, but it's time to throw away your Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, and Bruno Mars, and start collecting some Indie vinyl. There are actually tons of great underground Indie bands out there, you just need to know where to find them. Go to local shows frequently, or maybe local music stores to see who's there. Then you can go on to wikipedia and search "list of Indie bands" and they will definitely hook you up. You could also check out music blogs like Gorilla vs bear, Pitchforkmedia, and Stereogum. Pandora and LastFM are sites that find music you might like based on the artist, genre, or song you put into the search bar. Try putting in artists like Neon Indian, Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, The Ramones, or Girls.

I'm sure i will get castrated for this. Last night at a local sports bar there was a quick 10-15 sec add that popped up on that one tv in every sports bar with trivia games you can play...The add had the 2013 logo on both top corners and clearly read " HEADLINER WILL BE" then maybe a half dozen bands flashed very quickly and the only one i made out was willie nelson. I'm interested if anyone else has seen this or has any info? I find it strange they would release lineup news like this. Maybe one of the bands will be there? I would sure like to know who else was on that list

what's up everyone. new member of the forum here. this will be my 3rd hangout fest and having stumbled upon this forum in search of lineup rumors, i discovered there are quite a few people in the p'cola and surrounding areas contributing. anyway, figured i'd join.
Ozzfest is doing a two day fest in Japan the weekend before Hangout. The second day is Black Sabbath and Tool. Obviously wouldn't get both at this fest, but one could be a possibility.

along those lines, timing would be right for tool considering they should (fingers crossed) be releasing a new album in the near future. man, that would be awesome. puscifer would also be awesome.
i was hoping deftones would somehow make the lineup, but that's officially not happening. they'll be in australia and are already booked that weekend.
