You're right...
I rented through Meyer the first year (on 12th street and west beach), then Kaiser last year (10th and west beach)...this year jumped over to VRBO and found a sick house with a pool 1/4 mile from the east festival entrance. I think I may have found my permanent spot...VRBO really has the best options and most of them aren't jacked up to a special one-week concert rate like the commercial companies.
The first thing I do when I get to gulf shores is search for a cheap VIP ticket. You know damn well there's gonna be an Anders and a Moon Taxi set in the grove...maybe even a Jim James set. Any of those would be awesome to see while Slightly Stoopid is taking a shiz on the main stage.

I have really mixed feelings about Wonder. If it's just him, I'm not interested, but sit-ins really interest me. Unless they announce as Wonder and friends with some of the friends listed, I think it'll be a bust. Just because someone that's there could sit-in doesn't mean it'll happen. I was so pumped at Wanee last year for all the potential sit-ins with Further and Brothers, and none of it happened. I'm still trying to find out if someone dropped or if this was the plan.
Stevie Wonder isn't capable of being a "bust." You gotta be totally clueless to think the legend, Stevie Wonder, with a band of tight professional and session musicians wouldn't be a huge throwdown on the beach! Stevie at Roo was f'n ridiculous........dude came out raging a Keytar.
Also, the band is called Furthur, and Bob Weir sat in with the ABB for The Weight > It Makes No Difference reprise on 4/20/12.

I'm well aware of the spelling, wasn't paying attention that it was autocorrect. I've never checked out any Wonder. You're right he's a legend, I'm not sure what I had my little mind made up to see. I should have been more specific about the sit-ins. I was thinking more sit-ins with Furthur. The way the Weight went, I'm not so sure that was planned, especially the way Gregg was that night.

Last time I saw Stevie Wonder I was working for NASCAR in Los Angeles and while I was in my office... I started hearing some funky tunes coming from the front of our building. I looked down and saw a whole band and they were playing Boogie On... so I was like... no way that's Stevie... let's see what's going down. I took the elevator down and went out front... guess what? It was Stevie quacking Wonder with his full band playing a surprise hour long show in front of my office to announce his next tour. It was the single greatest day of my summer internship and one of the greatest musical experiences of my life. He closed with Superstition (obviously) and brought tons of 40 something office women on stage to boogie. Amazing!

This. Personally, I thought Stevie killed it at Bonnaroo. It was funky and fun, and the musicianship was beyond top notch. I'd love to see Stevie at Hangout.
I wasn't complaining, was just a little disappointed there were no sit-ins. Was so much potential and not even one. That's how it goes sometimes. No one is obligated to have anyone come out. Friday's Furthur show was awesome. Satuday wasn't my favorite, but it was still god damn Furthur and the rain stopped.

Speaking of Clash of the Hetty Titans, Mr. Wronginus is going to get his Dead cherry popped next Tuesday in Pensacola at a Dark Star show!!
Pure GD madness with like 10% of the wookishness of a Furthur show. My first GD related show was not as fun as it could have been because I was distracted by obnoxious hetty dudes, wooks and scenesters. My 2nd show was DSO and it was way more enjoyable because it lacked the BS of the GD scene. (The scene is a blast now that I know what I'm doing)

So is Kendrick Lamar good? I see he is listed pretty high up on the lineup, but I have never heard of this dude before the lineup dropped.
He's a really talented, buzzed-about rapper from the West coast. He's good enough to get the blessing from Snoop and Dre about him being the next big thing for West Coast Rap. He's still young too.

Anybody else remember after Stevie Wonders set at Bonnaroo he said "Thank you everyone, im gonna stick around and watch Jay-Z now....I mean stick around and listen to Jay-Z."
The whole crowd busted out laughing so hard. Good moment. And btw, that set of Stevies was one of the highlights of my life and i didnt expect much going into it. Me and my buddies still talk about how awesome that was. Random girls would just walk by and hard core grind on us for 5-10 minutes then leave. Greatest ever, his music just makes you wanna have fun.
So is Kendrick Lamar good? I see he is listed pretty high up on the lineup, but I have never heard of this dude before the lineup dropped.
I haven't stopped listening to his newest record, "good kid maad city", since it came out last September. The singles are Swimming Pools and Compton, which are both good songs, but other album tracks far surpass them. "Money Trees", "maad city", and "B***h Don't Kill My Vibe" are all in my constant rotation.
Having said that, the only live performance by him I've seen was on SNL, and I wasn't that impressed. Will probably be catching him at Buku in a few weeks so I'll report in that thread how the show was.
In other news, Stevie Wonder is at the top of my list of artists to catch I haven't seen yet. That is the kind of name that would make me feel much better about Hangout. I definitely think he would fit the Sunday headliner slot perfectly.
Just watched Sound City last night. First, if you haven't seen it, and you post on this board, you will love it, guaranteed. Second, it got me excited to see Tom Petty again. He's just such a cool dude.
