So we are 100% going to get hunger strike at the pj set which is amazing! Drake, Gary Clark, run dmc, and the hives make me happy. It's still just really weird that the roots aren't on this bill. What's up with that?
I agree. I think it's really weird too, but I can't say I'm all that disappointed, only because I've seen them SO many times. I could see them backing somebody though--which would be cool.

Yeah I would like to see them back rundmc because I can't see them just getting some other random dj to fill in for jam master jay. I would also like to see a mini set of them backing jayz in the middle of his set like how he did at his 9/11 concert at Madison square
I went and bought me an outfit today that costed a lot of money today, youknowImean?, 'cause I figured that Wu-Tang was gonna win! I don't know how y'all see it, but when it comes to the children, Wu-Tang is for the children! We teach the children! You know what I mean? Puffy is good, but Wu-Tang is the best! Okay? I want you all to know that this is ODB, and I love you all, peace!"

They could be backing D'Angelo too, right?
In theory, they could be almost like the MIA House Band - seems like that would be a little bit of a weird spot for them if they weren't already playing a set... but I guess it could be possible they do a separately ticketed show Friday or something and then guest throughout the weekend.

5/11/13: Sweetlife Festival
5/16/13: The Flaming Lips
5/20/13: Fitz and the Tantrums
6/7-6/9: Governors Ball
6/13-6/16: Bonnaroo
6/21-23: Firefly (???)
7/11-13 Camp Bisco
8/31-9/1: Made In America
9/27-29 Tomorrowworld (???)
This article on Philly.com has 'sources' who state both The Roots and Madonna will perform as well! The Roots make sense for obvious reasons but gotta say i'd be pretty surprised if Madonna performed. Either way sounds like its gonna be a great weekend
I'd never call myself a Madonna fan, but if that came to fruition, this festival would be one of the true bargains of the year (I'd argue it already is for my taste, but there's not a ton of depth to the lineup).
What happened to the TVOTR rumors? Have they gone away?

Any out of staters coming in for this besides me? Where are you guys staying? I just booked at Club Quarters on Chestnut based 100% on location, the fact it looked decent, and was the same chain I used for Lolla where everything was golden.
I have a lot of touristy plans in the mornings and on Labor Day that are within walking distance too... With the last of my logistics out of the way, I'm officially getting excited now!
i grabbed a hotel at the best western right on the parkway... Looks to be the closest hotel for the festival and supposedly has free parking. I'm not looking for anything fancy or expensive so it should work out well. Driving in from CT saturday morning- probably picking up some cheesesteaks, pregame at the hotel and head to the fest. Driving out Sunday night after the fest closes about 20-30 mins into NJ and hitting up six flags on Labor Day- Its probably a horrible idea but we have season passes so its free and can leave it gets unbearably packed

I may or may not be staying at the Best Western too. It's either that or the Holiday Inn, I didn't do the booking but remember it being one of the two. The closeness was our selling point.

Cool - I'll be passing you Best Westerners on the way to the fest each day.
Since I still haven't met a single Inforooster in the flesh and will be likely traveling solo for much of this trip rather than 3rd wheeling my buddy and his gf, I'll throw down the gauntlet... first round is on me for anyone who wants to grab a drink.

I hope the "additional details" includes a schedule. Only 10 days until I get to Philly, and I have no idea what my musical days will look like... very Coachella of them to wait this long.
FYI the MIA app is now out and it does have a schedule listed under lineup. MIA has come out and said its not the official schedule on their facebook page but overall it seems like it'll be close to what the actual schedule will look like
If it is accurate, the only thing that bothers me is that Calvin Harris overlaps Jay-Z, so I'm gonna have to leave him pretty early or skip it entirely, and also that Jay-Z only plays for an 1 hr 15mins. I was hoping for a bit longer.
I don't see any way that they keep people out of this, fences or not. This is a HUGE area they are cordoning off. I think I'm gonna go on Sunday. I can literally ride my bike there. Really I'm just going for Pearl Jam and Chris Cornell.

I have never been so excited to go to Philadelphia as I am now. Weather looks awesome next week will be amazing. Hopefully Santigold lets us dance on stage again...I missed that at Roo.

EDIT: I'm only going Saturday.
Um. You skip Calvin Harris. You skip him even if nobody is playing, there shouldn't even be a debate when he's up against Jay-Z.

I knew that was coming. Fair enough. It's my every intention though, so don't worry.
