This is another one of those bands that I hadn't really heard about until recently and then when I saw them on the lineup I figured I'd check them out. I'm digging their album and EP and thought they did really well on Conan O'Brien's show. I'm looking forward to this show. Any of you guys check them out? Pretty cool version of the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows" which I can imagine we'll hear on the farm.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. is an American indie-pop band from Detroit consisting of Daniel Zott and Joshua Epstein. Zott and Epstein met each other while playing in other Detroit music projects and began recording in Zott's basement in Royal Oak, MI. The group is known for high energy live performances and for placing harmonic vocals over electronic and organic instruments.
What you got back home, little sister, to play your fuzzy warbles on? I bet you got little save pitiful, portable picnic players. Come with uncle and hear all proper! Hear angel trumpets and devil trombones. You are invited.

I saw them perform a year or two ago. I'm not a big fan of their music but they do a good show, clean sound and work to engage their audience.
Heard a funny story about their name. This is second hand from a friend who meet one of them for several hours but doesn't know a whole lot about music, so some of the facts may be confused. Apparently Patrick Carney (he said one of the Black Keys, I assume it was Patrick) was working to produce some tracks for their major label debut. Patrick apparently hates their band name. He was pushing to get them to change it because he didn't like it, then fell back on insisting they do it so they don't get sued.
They pretty much had agreed to start thinking up a new name to avoid the wrath of Dale Jr. One of them decided on a whim just to email Jr. and see what he thought of the band name and tell him they were considering changing it. They heard back almost instantly from Jr. and he said he loved the band and thought it was an honor that they referenced him in their name. Said there'd be no problems with the band name from him or his team.
This was a pleasant surprise. I was in The Other tent almost all of Thursday to get rail for Phantogram and these guys were the only band I wasn't expecting to be great. They were probably top 3 for Thursday for me.
I listened to the album a few times through the day I arrived (Friday) and it got me nice and ready for the show just a couple hours later. Their Sonic set was really nice despite me throwing up for ten minutes right after it finished haha. I spent more time doing cafe shows this year than ever before and it worked out perfectly. I really hope they continue get more great acts like this to do a second slot on a smaller stage.
Is it intolerance if it makes you angrily uncomfortable when muslim women who wear robes and hijabs are standing around in the bathroom together in the way of the door and talking super loudly in their other language.
