I live in Alabama and if I am going to travel all the way to f'n Cali it needs to be worthwhile for me. The allure of Brochella to me has been the epic headliners that you won't see anywhere else. I'd rather see some huge name like The Stones at Coachella instead of NOLA or ATL because I will be outdoors, no chairs, and I can rage my ass off instead of having people tell me to sit down or whatever at an overpriced arena show.
Seeing Stevie Wonder at Roo '10 is a perfect example of this. There is no way I could throwdown as hard as I did at any other Stevie show without getting kicked out or worse.

I don't know why people think that if RHCP plays, you're somehow obligated to see them (like you would be at, say, Bonnaroo). Every year there's at least one headliner at Coachella that appeals to the KROQ crowd (RHCP, Black Keys, Kings of Leon, Jack Johnson, whatever). And every year, there's something else really awesome going on during that set. Last year, both Explosions for the Sky and M83 were on during the Keys. So while I'd hope for a better headliner than RHCP (since Coachella has shown they can pull really cool, diverse headlining acts), I won't really care if the Knife or Underworld or Blur or someone is playing at the same time.
It's not that they suck, it's the lack of effort. It's like if Roo books Avicii this year, I probably wouldn't be interested in any of the alternatives either, but show a little hustle.
Eh, I think you have to expect that any major festival is going to have one "lack of effort" type headliner, at least. Hell, Bonnaroo usually has two. It's those (theoretically) lazy/cheap bookings that enable them to put a band in that slot which will still bring in a casual crowd, but leave plenty of cash left over for the bigger gets. I personally never really get caught up in how big names are, or where people are billed - for me, whatever band is playing at 11:10 in the Mojave is just as likely, if not more likely, to be a huge attraction for my attendance as is the band headlining that night. Just the way my tastes run, there really aren't that many bands I love that are "headliner" material.

So I'm thinking this may mean no AFP, especially if RHCP is one of the headliners.
Meh, I think that could go both ways though.
He says that they wont tour till the RHCP tour is over, but if RHCP and Flea are already at Coachella, then that would be a good warm up rehearsal live gig

I'm super nervous about the Chella headliners. I know everyone around here is all about undercards, but you don't get a lot of chances to see bands in 80k person GA environments, and I'd really like at least one band I'm really pumped about.

I feel the same way. There's nothing like a really great 80k person song-a-long.

Dude you'll get that. If that's all your nervous about, I'd sit back and relax because those moments inevitabley happen. It will be everything you want it to be, no doubt.
Do you guys realize if we actually got the Stones it would be their first American festival appearance since Altamont way back in 1969? Not much else could top that in my opinion.
You guys wanna hear something funny? If they released the Coachella lineup at midnight PT, that actually WOULD be 3 AM for those of us here on the east coast. Thank God Jess doesn't post here anymore...(<3 u jess)

He had a heart attack during that tour. It's extremely unlikely that he will ever tour again much less headline a festival. My step-father saw him in '78 when he toured for Low/Heroes.

Bowie was #1 on my wishlist followed my Prince but at the time I thought Bowie was a long shot. Now with the release of the single and the announcement of a new album in March, I think its a strong possibility. If not at Coachella then Bonnaroo

Update: According to the Guardian, Bowie has no plans for interviews or live dates. A spokesman for the musician said he “writes and performs what he wants when he wants.”
