they don't have any dates announced, and all the rumors seem to be based off songkick. i think with headliners the size of the stones and chili peppers there is likely to be a smaller headlienr. mumsons isout i think. east coast or euro dates or something.
Why in the fuck would Coachella book RHCP when they played every other major US festival last year, toured everywhere extensively for the latest album, etc? I'll believe them shats when I see it on the official lineup.
6/12: Rolling Stones 7/3-5: Fare Thee Well 7/11: Judas Priest 7/18: Tyler, the Creator 7/20: Manson / Corgan 7/23: Failure 7/30: Faith No More / Refused 7/31, 8/7-8: MMJ 8/15: Neurosis 9/17: Chelsea Wolfe 10/3: Run the Jewels 10/7: Alt-J 10/8: Ghost
my biggest worry is that nothing will be going on in the tents outside of some avicii type shiz during the stones.
And this shows how little you know about my beloved festival. There would be a legitimate conflict if even Jesus Christ were performing miracles on the main stage.
If there's one thing I know and obsess over its Coachella.
if you love and obsess, why not do it on the coachella boards? because you got run out of town after you bitched about the 2011 lineup.
i just gave you two headliners that are playing. 2 our of 3 even.
to think that coachella will pay the stones 12 million dollars and not close a tent or two is ludicrous. did you know that gorillaz played to a silent polo fields? the rolling stones might be a more popular draw than gorillaz.
The lineup rumors look really sparse to me. 32 vs. 51 (before the video leaks) last year. People say subs are mostly done, but that doesn't look like that to me at all, people are saying YYYs could headline simply because they are the biggest name outside of RHCP/Stones that have been rumored. They could easily be 3rd or 4th on their day at this point. Sigur Ros will probably be 1st sub on their day though, and IMO deadmau5 will almost definitely be there if Daft Punk isn't (and I don't think they will be). Plus, if you look at the nature of the rumors, Wu-Tang looks really suspect to me (quote sounds more like they have been talking about reuniting and would expect to do festivals), Polyphonic Spree is more or less a wish list from the band, Tegan and Sara have an LA date, etc.
The dude who hinted at Culture Club was me. I was told about them, unprompted, by somebody who has very strong connections (I know everybody says that, I'd be happy to PM the Coachella regular Inforooers a little more clarity, I absolutely believe this person would have some serious insider scoop). Some people on the boards have brought up that Boy George has been having visa issues, although he tweeted he "thinks he has it now" about a month or two ago. That news made it seem a little less certain to me, but at least at one point everybody considered it a done deal.
Not to mention 15 of the 51 last year were not on the final lineup. That would mean we have 9 or 10 that are likely to be wrong.
Not in the private discussions, I bet there are some better leaks in there, but for now I'd say most of the lineup is unknown, particularly if they are indeed adding another tent (which may or may not mean more acts, might simply mean longer sets).
To be fair, Dre only had AVICII going against him, and that was only Week 1. Modeselektor, DJ Shadow, and Florence all started at either 9:40 or 9:45, meaning they all were scheduled to end 10:30 or 10:35. Dre started at 10:35. Unless Modeselektor/Shadow went over, no idea, I was at ATDI/Dre.
If Stones are on Friday like the app said, there will be other stuff going on in the tents (but not the Outdoor), if they are on Sunday, it might just be the Sahara.
oh and you're critique of the coachella board is funny, considering how this place is viewed by the rest of the festival boarding community.
Yet here you are posting, regardless of how it's viewed. And "by the rest of the festival boarding community" you only mean the Coach boards considering they're the only group narcissistic enough to worry about being the best at "festival speculating".
